done 7 on my first sleeve
Wasn't bad, arm doesn't hurt.
Bring some music or chat with your artist so you don't get bored
And typical stuff like getting a good meal in before you tattoo and make sure to have some juice around
I wouldn't worry too much about it

I'm sure you guys heard what happened at floating world a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately I am unable to get a hold of Sam now since the incident happened. Looking for a place to finish shading - someone that can finish japanese style pieces very well. I know Monkey King is awesome but it's a bit out of my price range.. Looking to pay $160 an hour max, Any suggestions/portfolios?

check out strictly tattoo, Horitsugu (apprentice) is out of town but Horiryu (the owner) is here. http://strictlytattoogallery.com/ dont cheap out on tattoos. Floating World sucks, go else where.

Is there an unfinished tattoo tat you got?

phantom x 01-21-2013 03:43 PM

Honestly he did a very good job on my piece, maybe I was just lucky lol.

I'm trying not to cheap out. I'm not looking to spend $80 an hour or something.. I'm willing to pay $60 more an hour than I was paying at floating world. Not everyone can afford $200-240 an hour.. $160 isn't that bad

The dragon part of my tattoo is unfinished. It's my chest piece and extends to my back. Just need to shade it in and add a border around my titty

I gave that shop a call, sounds like the owner only works on his own pieces + cover ups. Gonna go in wednesday anyways to see what they say

Recon604 01-21-2013 04:21 PM

yeah very hard to find reputable artists willing to work on some other tattoo artist's work. So that dragon was done by Sam?

dlo 01-21-2013 06:35 PM

Adorkami 01-21-2013 08:22 PM

not sure if i could handle 8 hours for my first time, but never gotten anything on my arms. Just make sure to eat before, it makes a huge difference. I'd recommend earle of sandwich in planet hollywood if you are going to vegas, tastes so good.

do you guys believe in the chinese zodiac, where as if youre the year of the dog, you should not get any dragons / oxs tattooed on your body , and the best thing to get is what your most compatable with? ie : dog = tiger /
etc etc

No, but my wife's mom makes us get these little tokens to carry around each year. I would never let it determine what tattoo to get though.

Asian Tattoo Artist - Azn Lifestyles TV - YouTube
I was watching this and he was talking about it thats why I got all curious about it.

Would google have all the meanings of animals in japanese tattooing ie ; tigers ,dragons, kois , fuu dogs?

I want to get 2 fuu dog half sleeves starting from the chest going to the bicepts but not sure what would look good as the drawing goes down
Havent seen many pictures

Jeff Tam is local if you really believe in that you could easily talk to Jeff about your Zodiac.

There are rules in traditional japanese tattooing such as certain element shouldn't go together, the direction of the waves and etc but that more due to Japanese legend and how things are in nature.

http://www.irezumi.us/eg/index.html

this website has meaning for many symbols in traditional japanese tattoos. Keep in mind that some stuff symbolize different stuff in different culture. For example Tiger coming up/down mountain symbolize different things in traditional japanese tattooing than from triad tattoos in china

Adorkami 01-23-2013 07:36 PM

black/grey dragon holding a crystal ball with my sons name in at, and some clouds in the background with a bit of colour. I told him to add w/e else to it that he thinks would make it look good
