I've been searching for the last day and nada.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Wow, after 2 hours playing around with XT, finally got it working on my E71 using internal GPS. What a pain in the butt.

The instruction comes with the torrnet is good, but not good enough. Also, the map install for S60 3rd in the dl is not working properly. have to dl the official one and work with torrent.

The difficult part now is, the zooming is using #1,3 button and for E71 to zoom, you have to hold the function key.

Other than that, it looks very similar to the handheld Garmin. very nice indeed.

Just change the product ID/Code using NSU, the whole process takes 1min, followed by download + 10 mins of flashing. I flashed 8, E71's last night wth 200.xx.xxx firmware.

I had a Gray Steel NAM then sold that and got a White Steel NAM. I forget what my code is but it's different that what most E71-2s have though. hahaha

EDIT: Updated mine to 200.21.118 as well.

My E71-2's original product code: 0570274
My E71-2's upgradable product code: 0559585

Thanks,
i'm working on it right now, there's plenty of information on ipmart though.

to my understanding (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

1--download the standalone files, transfer to the root of your memory card
EDIT: No links to the files please, thanks.

2--download torrent of the garmin mobile xt maps for north america

3-- install garminmobilext.sis

4--Then..
Quote:
First you need to put map file into GARMIN folder in Root Storage device, and change file name into gmapprom.img. Then you need to unlock map with keygen (EDIT: No links to the files please, thanks). Enter Unit ID , find it in garmin app on your phone under ABOUT, then select map from drop meny and click generate. Copy 25 digit with CTRL C, then open new text document in GARMIN folder in storage device (your phone card) then paste digit with CTRL V and save document as gmapprom.unl. If your map is`nt on drop meny then you need to put map cod No then click generate. You can have max 3 maps in garmin folder but they need to have diff name like gmapsupp, gmapprom, gmapbase. Any other ?

i'm stuck on the same step as you, where you have to unlock gmobilext itself. I can't get into the menu where you find your cardID .. So i need the 8 character code for the gmobilext as well.

you dont need to run from sis file. The installation will do it for you.

Here is the official link to Garmin website. Kardboard, this should be ok, right?
http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ls.jsp?id=3939

I tried the one inside torrent, it's not the rigth version (resoltion is wrong) for E71. You can dl official Garmin XT from Garmin website. When come to the step on installing XT onto E71, then use the official one. You will need the memory be recognized as a removable drive. Then when it installed, it will put correct .sis file onto memory and will be executed once memory put back to the phone. I never had to run the sis manually, it's done automatically.

i had to run the .sis manually via file explorer.

either way it's installed, but its still the 4.2 version, don't want to hassle with upgrading to the 5.0 version since it's that big of a pain in the butt to install.

i just ordered the hard case in red, hope it looks good.
i am looking for a cradle though so i dont have to use the kleenex box method like someone did earlier in this thread lol. not looking to spend $20USD for one though like all the ones on ebay..

list some must have apps, these are mine:

handy taskman/alarm/converter
opera mini
smart connect
coreplayer
skystream caller pro

Mobbler for Last.fm integration and Google Maps with Latitude...so I can stalk myself because none of my friends have Latitude and/or a data plan.

Red case is fun, but the clips on the top will break within a month. Cradles on eBay are the only ones available. Best bet for a cheaper one is to build one from Lego. No joke.

Well, for update the program part, it should be simple. You should not need to go through the whole thing again. The map/ID stays the same as long as it's the same memory card. Update program should take less than a minute to do.

I have V5 and it works great. Installed it on my N95 as well and this time takes 1/4 of the time from E71. Got maps for BC/Alberta/WA/OR/CA for only less than 100mb. Very good in size for sure.

If you guys are running V5 Garmin, make sure you use JBAKtaskman to fully terminate it or it will eat away at your battery. Theres a TSRautorun.exe or something that keeps running even though you close Garmin and it sucks battery life. Best bet is to reboot and you'll notice a difference in time between charges. The older garmin versions never did this at all. I used Energy Profiler to check the different consumptions to see if its true and it's not in my head and there was a difference in voltages.

would you just use garminmobilext 5.0 .sis (file name isn't exact) and just install, and it'll just automatically update.

i'll definitely look into it but after what the previous poster mentioned about it chewing up battery life...

i was looking into the changelogs, from 4.2 to 5.10 isn't even that big of a difference so i won't bother updating yet then i guess.

Anyone having issues with firmware 200 for the NAM and accessing YouTube? It's blocked for me now, and if I try to access the YouTube Mobile site in a browser, it pops me to the Rogers Mall and tells me that I need to add it on to my plan etc. etc. I'm not alone for sure, as a few people on HoFo are having this issue too. Doesn't matter if you're using a program (i.e. MobiTubia) or not, it won't connect to the video.

If this is unfixable I'm jumping ship and getting a new phone to tie me over until the Pre drops LOL

Dammit I love the E71 but no YouTube = deathhhh

EDIT: Fixed! Here's the solution:

thanks for the update with the solution.

i've just been using mobiatubia instead of going through web browser and i've found that with this app, loading certain videos just randomly closes the program entirely. Otherwise, great quality and adequate/fast GUI.

i'm looking through craigs and people are selling rogers BNIB ones for $320 ... it's like they're making fake ads just to drop the price on this phone or something. Or they could be just really fucking stupid and not do a little research of the " street value " and rip themselves off.

For MobiTubia, let the search results load all the thumbnails first. That should reduce most of your crashes.

Just updated to the latest 200.21.118 after I was having quite a few problems on my 100.xx.xxx and after reading JordanLee's post I want to install Taskman..

Quote:
1. Sign 5 files in given attachment
a. MapDrives v1.00 DiskAdmin Unsigned
b. 2 MapDrive_Y
c. modo_v1.02(3)_Unsigned
d Modo 0.50
e JBakTaskMan
2. Install JBakTaskMan in Memory card
3. Install signed MapDrives v1.00 DiskAdmin Unsigned in Phone memory
4. You will see two new apps in installation folder
5. Now Copy MapDrives to ur memory card using PC suite
6. Also Copy folder Hack\sys\bin\installserver to ur memory card
7. Run JBakTaskMan press # button search Mapdrive press menu select Program rules and in task list enable autostart
8. Reboot ur device.
9. After rebooting remove Mapdrive app from installation folder
10. Now install 2 MapDrive_Y in phone memory
11. Again go to JBakTaskMan press # search Mapdrive and from menu select Launch
12. Now Install modo_v1.02(3)_Unsigned in to phone memory (It wont give you error required application access not granted)
13. Now Install Modo 0.50 (replace with modo_v1.02(3) and remember install it in phone memory only
14. Now you will see modo in leftup folder in your menu
15. Run Modo and copy installserver.exe from Hsys\bin to CSYS\bin
16. You are done now you can install any unsigned APPS
17. To increase further capabalities install ROMPatcher and copy file Open4All.rmp to ur memory card in folder EPatches.
18. Run Rompacher select patch and select enabled
19. Yor are done
What does it mean by sign the 5 files? Just install them.. ?
