Your welcome guys, I noticed a big difference when I did it so i thought it'd be nice to share a tip. I dont think you need to do all that work to just install taskman. If thats what your after? Heres a link, it should work. I installed it np before.

What does it mean by sign the 5 files? Just install them.. ?
sign files is basically "unlocking the file" so you can install them on your phone, and specifically you're phone.

if it's not signed/"unlocked" you can't install that file.

to sign a file, there's plenty of methods, the newest is helloOX, look under ipmart forums or dotsis forums, plenty of information.

I use the Jbaktaskman to terminate the TSRautorun.exe but it keeps on coming back by itself.
hmmmm... I might have to un-install the Garmin after all....

really? I like Garmin's interface a little better.

Well, it's not like I need the GPS on E71 at all. I still have it on my N95 and I have a portable GPS and a factory Honda GPS anyway.

I was looking for alternative while I am riding. But if it sucks battery this fast, it's pointless for me.

oh, I just found out it came back because everytime I remove the memory and put it back, it will automatically start it up.

tomtom6 is more detailed in terms of speech instructions for navigation.
eg. garmin - turn right in 250m
tomtom6 - turn right in 250m, the second street ahead

yea... i notice it comes back on by itself also. but i don't mind. i'm always playing around with my phone anyways.... i just check every now and then and if its on.... just turn it off. no biggie for me. i'm too lazy to downgrade or try and install tomtom. thats why i'm not upgrading the firmware either lol. don't want to reinstall everything. it doens't matter if i have youtube player. i like youtube on the ipod touch better anyways

i don't think the TSRautorun.exe is coming back on by itself. i notice it comes back on after opening your gallery. so its not a problem caused by Garmin. i'll bet it comes on when opening other programs too ... just never bothered opening up each one. i still like the phone...

Mine comes back on every few hours or so by itself and I know it's not caused by opening the Gallery or whatever cuz I don't play with my phone in that period of inactivity.

Someone on another forum said that this battery drain issue only affects Garmin XT versions 5.00.10 and 5.00.20 whereas Garmin XT version 5.00.00 and older versions (4.x) are OK. I'm running 5.00.00 however and do notice shitty battery life (unsure if it's due to Garmin or not though, lol).

If TSRAutoStart.exe is always reappearing..

Delete the following files from memory card:
\resource\plugins\CardRunner.rsc
\sys\bin\CardRunner.dll
Reboot device.
Havn't tried this yet as I don't have a third-party file explorer software installed yet. Can anyone recommend a good one?

I was wrong. it's coming back without popping out the memory.

I turned off the "internal GPS" from Garmin from SETUP. Although TSR is still running, it's not draining battery as bad.

the maps navigation that comes with it is junk anyways, if you're keen on using it here's what you have to do:

1- download nokia maps loader ( from nokia site ) and install the program
2- connect your phone to your computer
3- run the map loader, select what maps/voices you want, download and it'll install it to your phone and that's it.

garmin is definitely more tricky, i've done it before on previous phone and still took me a day to fully figure it out. you'll definitely have to do some searching around to figure out garmin.
just follow this : http://www.martin-gardner.co.uk/how-...r-n95-n95-8gb/

you need to connect to internet to dl the map. either from wifi or data plan.
or like illicitstylz said, dl nokia map loader and load it from your computer

so do you actually needed data plan or wifi to USE the GPS other than to download the maps initially?

you can use GPS without data plan.

however, there are settings within the gps such as assisted gps or something along those lines that make you receive data from rogers everytime you start up a GPS application.

this is because it helps you acquire a satellite connection faster but for a price obviously. you can turn off some of these settings if you don't have a data plan that way you don't get charged for it.

I uninstalled garmin last night. And I think my battery consumption has been better. I'm still full bars and usually I'd be not at full bars haha.

I've ran into a problem though. My notification for text messages doesn't come up anymore. That little box in the bottom. Anyone know how I can fix this?

I just sold mine but I think its in the mode settings. You can tell it what notifications you want it to show.

Quoted from zdnets review. "These notifications can be selected by going to Tools>Settings>General>Personalization>Home Screen>Mode Settings>Home screen applications>Enabled applications."

google maps is a great alternative to the other mapping programs. no turn by turn and requires data (wifi ok) but its great for searching
