The only time I decide to try to do pay back to the community, work interferes. Work wont let me volunteer for The Beat Cares donation drive. Sales reps are all in big sales meeting, and I cant leave my backup all by herself? What good of a backup is she if she cant deal with shit. Its not like Im volunteering on company time, I actually am using my OWN earned vacation days to do it. Quotas are more important than doing one good deed during the most festive time of year. I even offered to be acccessible by email, phone, and offered to work remotely isnt that not god enough? Its friday for fucksake most people dont give a flying fuck and leave the office early.
