Life plans in this city, just don't work out. Everybody says this city is wonderful, but it's not if you're living here.

Own a home by 25 = Nope.
Good career path = Nope.
Enjoying time off = Nope.
Happiness? = Sometimes.

There are so many things that people may not see, that can bring a person down. The struggles of the mind are the worst, and the hardest to succeed.

how does some mofo pay for a wedding
marriage is ABOUT 2 people together. that's it.... anything else is EXTRA, expectations and a blessing if you're able to afford.

Ring 6000+
$1000 per table, 20+ tables = $20000
video, photos 6000+
rental of dress, suits, chapel, wedding favors, card, invites etc $5000?
honey moon at Langley? no... let's go to Europe... 4000
oh.. if you're asian... there's soemthing called Dowry 5000?
OH, let's move out to an apartment.. new... old? how about old + renos.. $15000k

how the fuck does someone save up 50000 to spend.....

i would hate if a girl comes to me and say.. sorry.. these are per-requisite, if you can't do that... let's stop dating.... wow....

it's possible if you start early, set some goals and prioritize :hotbaby:

Or you know not do something fancy? Go get married under the Welcome to Las Vegas sign? or something. It doesnt need to cost a lot to be great.

TOS'd 03-02-2015 09:27 PM

Every valentines day you can get married for free at the robson skating rink, for the past couple of years so I'm sure it will happen again next year.

I don't know why but I'm kind of scared about being with my boyfriend for possibly the next few years. I love him, I don't doubt that. I guess I'm fearing commitment? I haven't had many people in my life that I was like "yeah, I'll still be hanging out with them in a few years" except for my parents and closest friends. Understanding that I need to plan the next few years of my life and taking account that my boyfriend is in that plan too is kind of unsettling. Anyone else have these feelings? We've been dating just over a year and he is already having that mindset with his plans. But I'm just in a place where it's hard for me to plan my future, let alone including him in my plans too.

6793026 03-03-2015 07:09 AM

^ you need to be open and talk to him. don't know you well enough but seems like this might be the first real commitment you are dealing with and it's a tad uneasy.

In my opinion I would say go with the flow, there no point of worrying or planning if your not ready it just messes with your head and it makes you think of other things. when the time comes that's when you should worry. I would say the best thing is to have a quiet and nice dinner with him and talk things over. It's never healthy to keep all the questions inside you, it just hurts.

Own a home by 25 = Yes (did it when I was 20)
Good career path = yes (sorta - making more then my parents)
Enjoying time off = Sure.... I go out with friends, buy toys for myself, go skiing
Happiness? = not really...

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy me car parts -and usually; car parts make me happy (temporally)

6o4__boi 03-03-2015 09:30 AM

i hate it when people say money can't buy you happiness...cus really the only people who say that are either already really rich, terminally ill or are pretentious and pretending to add more dimension to their personality.
Money is happiness
at least for me.
the root of all my problems is money-related.
If i was rolling around in dough i couldn't give two fucks about anything and i'd probably be happy as fuck (no matter how temporary that'll last)

TOS'd 03-03-2015 09:47 AM

Just another perspective, since different people value different things. There is no right or wrong answer to this. There is only what is best in your opinion.

Pegacorn 03-03-2015 10:55 AM

I feel so out of shape. Maybe if I put this cookie in my mouth I'll feel better.

Don't marry old-school Asian. Or marry someone as equally as poor or wealthy as you.

A lot of these things are unnecessary expenses because at the end of the day, no one remembers the wedding except for the couple. Tell your friend to spend on things that both people will enjoy.

You're young and probably have never faced true adversity, like suffering from cancer or having a near-death experience, or going through a divorce.

Once you go through some life-altering, you'll probably change your tone.

6o4__boi 03-03-2015 01:36 PM

:fuckthatshit:
true
but i'll probably never have the money to know what it's like to have a lot of money anyways.

truth be told: money doesn't necessarily buy happiness, but it sure as hell can alleviate the suffering
