I don't know if I should post his name here or not..

As I get older, I've learnt that the materialistic things in life don't bring happiness.

I just want to be 100% healthy and do the things I enjoy doing, spend time with family and friends. Past two months, haven't been 100% healthy, puts a strain on my mentality/life functionality with the worries...

circumstances do not make a man, they reveal him.
and the circumstances of your life, truly, reveal, the way that you are.

family businesses doesn't do reference checks. In fact, unless you work for a fortune 100 companies, they rarely check your shit.

I agree, I'd even go so far as to submit anonymously.

I need your opinions, recently I met this girl who is five years older, she seems like my type, what are your experience's with this? has anybody guy or girl dated a someone who has a semi big gap age difference? If so what are your view's on this?

5 years is a big age gap it will always be a taboo you'll get quizzical looks from other people for sure.

IMO it's more about if you click with the person or not. Because of the 5 year age gap, it is important you guys are mentally compatible with each other. Eg. you're still down to club and she's getting ready to save up, buy a house and settle down kinda thing. That's a reason why girls are hesitant on dating guys younger than they are and they prefer older guys. Younger guys tend to be unstable and immature. Just going with the flow, not as confident, and indecisive. If you have your shit together you're in a good spot.

Next, a huge thing to consider is starting a family (assuming you two want one). There's going to be pressure into starting a family early and you better be ready. As a woman ages there's a higher risk of infertility and also birth defects. Again, you need to have your shit together.

I just pointed out a few things to consider off the top of my head and there's definitely much more to think about. You should have a conviction to go for this. You certainly don't want to waste each others' time.

Inaii 12-21-2016 06:08 PM

Unless you're in your early 20s, 5 years isn't a big age gap. If you guys mesh, you're worrying over nothing.

I know a friend who was in the situation where it was the other way around where he was older by 5 years. They click but sometimes the references that he gets, she won't.

Who cares as long as you click as long as you're both over 20, doesn't matter. By the time you're 80 and she's 85, doesn't make a difference. If one of you is still like a teen or younger then yeah, issues.

guurl 12-22-2016 12:03 PM

i've dated guys 5 years older and i felt like there's no difference.

i think it might be different with guys dating older women though depending on the situation you're both in.
lol be ready to settle down if things get serious.

one of my guy friends (24-25) is dating a girl 6 years older (30-31) had no choice but to propose to her after a year and a half of dating if he wanted to continue being with her or else her father would not give him business opportunities (i kind of found that funny) lol

dont know if hes dating her for her wealth or for HER bc he tends to complain that shes boring and that they dont see eye to eye :lawl:

Who the heck looks at a 5 year age gap with quizzical looks? 15 years maybe. :yuno:

Are we talking about teenage relationships here?

5 Years is a long time. 5 years is like going through a recession and recovering. 5 years is like finishing a degree in college. And you can tell between who's a freshman and a graduate.

I agree that there are outliers eg. my mom looks young because she's a housewife. And my dad looks like he's in his 60's since he works 12+ hour days. Father is older by 3 years and when we go out as a family sometimes, people say "Oh you have two daughters? Where's the mother?".

I am saying that on average people pick up signals whether it's a physical, mental, or emotional cue that gives an approximate of someone's age. For example, OP can be dating said girl and people may think that she's his sister or something for one of the cues above.

I will say though that it's usually the case when it's guys dating older girls. It IS a stigma, there's a reason why it isn't as common as guys dating younger girls.

hah...wtf...i meant younger....if you eat right and get proper rest, relatively stress-free life i don't think you'll notice a couple who has a 5 year age gap at all.

my parents were 8 years apart in age too.

dapperfied 12-23-2016 07:10 PM

Sometimes I just want to move to a new city and start fresh.. Toronto perhaps?

ZN6 12-24-2016 12:35 PM

Am I really going to go through with this?? Maybe I should wait for the new year before making a rash decision...

JShifter 12-25-2016 10:19 AM

I feel like nothing makes me happy in life, New stuff doesn't really thrill me anymore. expect when I see you and talk to you , you make my world brighten up, you are my sunshine and my moon. I know you don't feel the same way but as long I can be by your side that's good enough for me.

Inaii 12-25-2016 10:51 AM
