Going on a date with some fob girl from Tinder. Do I drive the Civic or e46 to avoid gold/food diggers? Newer econobox or old luxury car?

She's came to Canada just for school, pretty sure her parents are well off. And chicks raised in Asia usually have a princess mentality.

Yikes.

Those are some winner mentality. Take transit.

You could drive a e36 318i base model and she would still think you're more baller than if you had a 2018 civic :lawl:

When I went on a date with a MLC, first two questions at dinner were how much I made annually and what was my position.

Good thing she's from HK. But I feel like it's pretty much the same nowadays. That's what I'm worried about. That and like I'm skeptical of if I drive the BMW, if that automatically forces me to pay for dinner, because of BMW. While I would pay for dinner, regardless, I wouldn't want it to be an expectation.

^ going on a date with a girl from Asia, you are definitely expected to pay for dinner lol they might bring a purse, but there probably are no cards or cash inside lol

I normally dont believe this kind of stuff but she mentioned things that i've never mentioned to anybody before which was pretty shocking.. so... yeah. Seems legit lol

Price and contact info?

BIC_BAWS 11-11-2017 02:10 PM

So it turns out everything I assumed about her was wrong. BMW don't mean shit cause her parents drive Tesla, Range Rover (evoque), and a Maserati. I didn't do the whole holding car doors and like walking her to the place type of thing - is that even a thing?

While she comes from a well off family, she's actually pretty independent after travelling on her own for a year. I'm pretty sure she was pretty offended when I paid the bill while she was in the washroom. I told her she can pay the next time we go out. I'm pretty impressed with her ideals of equality, it's very different from what I expect from a fob (literally) girl

Not sure what to say about the whole date. It was meh. I didn't want to come off as "im only here so we can fuck" kind of manwhore, so I took the other approach. I mean it wasn't a bad date, I had a good time, but nothing special? I got the whole interpersonal and intellectual connection down, but I realized idk how to translate that into tension, so it kinda just felt like another day with another female friend.

Tl;dr: Adult dating is hard af. How do you meet people if you just work in a small business all day? Man high school was awhile ago, but that was SOOO EASY compared to this.

ALSO don't go to True Confections on West Broadway, it turns out that's the shitty location.

dn53 11-11-2017 03:13 PM

^ i think holding the car door open thing for a girl on a first date makes you look like a little bitch :lol

I do it once in awhile, but def not on the first date. it's good to look like a gentleman but you don't want the girl to have an idea that you think she cant do anything by herself

ps, i love the tiramisu at true confections its killa

dapperfied 11-11-2017 03:27 PM

Time to become a gold digger bicbaws :lawl:

A thing I learned a while ago is, opening the door for her in the car. If she scoots over to unlock the other side, she's a keeper. Though, with autolocks these days, it doesn't really apply. lol.

Nowadays, if they aren't spooked by manual locks that's already a plus.

You pick up a new hobby. BLAH BLAH BLAH .... but i stuck to my words and actually did it. And I made sure I put in some time (eg// 20+ class before I blew it off as boring)
1) Cycling (turns out it's all dudes)
2) Dancing. I picked up salsa. It's fun as fuck but the demographics is usually a bit older. Surprisingly, I just met a chick for the 1st time yesterday so I'll see how that goes.
3) Pottery. Starting a drop in class Monday. TONS of chicks.

*I'm honestly am genuine in learning a new hobby; chicks are just a bonus.

Yeah my friend told me that as well. It's like holding her bag. She can do that shit herself. It was just super awkward cause when picking her up she didn't know how to open the door and I still had my seat belt on, and same situation when I was dropping her off, awkward with the doors.

My e46 doesn't autolock so the door just stays unlocked LMAO. Like mentioned above, it was super awkward cause I had my seatbelt on in both cases of hello/bye.

What do you mean about if she scoots over to unlock the other side?

I found a smooth way to open the door for girls, or at least look like it, is if you have keyless entry (I did on the Civic), you can grab the passenger door handle first, and it unlocks the doors.

@gerbs I had the same reaction to speedstar "wtf."

Some helpful advice here. Thanks a lot, folks.

I recently started talking to this cute girl who works at the Timmy's nearby. I go there for lunch when I have work or when I talk to my boss. Eventually gave her my number and we started texting. Unfortunately, she has a very screwed up schedule(she is an early bird, while I am a bit of a night owl, although that's changing and I try not staying up late when I don't have to), so we couldn't talk too much.

Saw her last on Friday and I told her we should hang out on the weekend. Texted her today and didn't get a response. Hopefully she is okay; doesn't look like she's trying to troll me or something...

And about the door situation, I love the Advanced Key for my RX-8. There is a little black rubber button on the door handle you press and that unlocks the door if you have the card key with you. The only annoying thing is trying to unlock both doors. You have to press the button twice quickly, but sometimes that just ends up locking the doors. RX-8 also doesn't have auto-locking for some reason. I have to manually lock the doors once I get in. Come on, my Accord had that(I set it to lock when I shift into D), and even the MT version of it gave you the option to lock the door when you reach certain speed.

Did that stuff in high school. So much fun and I miss it. Some of the fun comes from my classmates screwing around. I still have a lot of the stuff I made. There is this cup I made that I use daily.

Damn...?! Is being a gentleman out of fashion nowadays? Back when I was in the dating scene, it has always been a winning move for me. More than a few girls were totally and genuinely blown away when I pulled the move on them. The rest at least appreciated it. It really helped set the tone for the rest of the evening.

I guess chivalry really is dead...?

Inaii 11-11-2017 11:22 PM

Lol being courteous makes you a bitch? Ahhh kids these days.

BIC_BAWS 11-12-2017 03:07 AM

What do you guys think about this? My friends see it as her being forward - wants the d. But I think she's calling me out for being thirsty af LMAO

Where do you sign up for said hobbies? Community centers?

I wouldn't sweat it, maybe she was busy and saw your text and forgot to reply. I've come to terms of not sending too many texts (unless it's a meaningful conversation), generally from what I heard 1-3 texts and then wait. For this girl that I went out with, initially my response time was about 2 hrs each, then she gave me her number, and I waited a bit before texting her.

I told myself I'm tired of these mind games, but like it seems to be what works. Personally I just didn't want to come off as not having a life and being on my phone all day.
