Guess I'm going to, maybe to an English speaking country first lol
While it might not be most people's destination of choice, if you want something not too different from home, Australia is a good place to go.
From my previous market research, Melbourne/Sydney is the closest to Vancouver culture. It'd be a cool place to go if you want to go somewhere new, but not too different.

That's actually my first choice since I've never been to Australia yet.. lol
Bear in mind that Australia is bloody $$$$. From my preliminary research, it seems to me that the general expenses incurred as a tourist there is easily 50%+ higher than an equivalent tourist here in Vancouver.
Pretty much a huge chunk of the world is set up for English speaking travellers. - Asia and Europe especially. I wouldn't worry about the language barrier - just go where you want to go. My first solo trip was to Japan - don't speak a lick of Japanese - and I did fine.
Can attest to Australia being expensive as a tourist. Living there earning a local salary it's not to bad.

Like CivicBlues said, don't worry too much about language. I've backpacked through a lot of different countries while not knowing the local language. You eventually pick up some of the very basic manners stuff. Plus you might meet some other solo travelers and it makes for an easy way to make friends while trying to navigate around foreign places together.

I don't really know... Crossfaded is terrible? Crossfaded is crazy? I hate my life? So trying to go out to the bar with the guys on an empty stomach, while having an edible is a terrible fucking idea when you've been clean for 6 months.
Fuck trying to get on her level. I remember thinking this feels so bad. I just want this to be over.

It's that time of year, again. Days are shorter, and colder. Lights and decorations go up. My wife hassles me about going to seasonal events, and I tell her I'm not going downtown to spend money on the damn Christmas Market. What are suggestions on good, holiday things to do that's not in downtown? We're gonna check out Hycroft Manor next weekend. I probably need one more event to say that we did stuff. Any suggestions?
Xmas market sucks went last year nothing to do see and left in 5mins. Worse part is that since it was raining that day and is outdoor. It will be much better if it was indoor.

i agree on the indoor thing! i hate the cold so i dont go to all the gimmicky halloween/christmas stuff even though i want to lol. its always nice to do stuff like this for a date though.... i dont even know what counts as dates anymore lol
I went to the West Coast Christmas Show happening at TradEx in Abby. It was busy as fuck, but at least parking was plentiful and free. My little nephew and baby niece got a few pics with Mr AND Mrs Claus. There was a stage with various groups singing Christmas carols. There were some craft activities for kids, and Christmas trees to look at. The rest of it was like the PNE marketplace.
It was an okay thing to do. I didn't mind it. It was affordable, and it didn't frustrate me to get out there. My wife liked it. She likes checking out beauty-related crap, and ended up with something that would curl her hair without the heat of a curling iron.
