IMO lectures are BORING. there are assignments, which seem pretty hard (haven't actually started yet, just glanced through it).
I've taken 291 with him, and all I did was go through his notes and past exams; ended up with an A. I didn't even buy a textbook for both 291 and 305.
Tutorials are MANDATORY--the notes are very very important. The TA (I have Noor) is hella bad. If you have a friend to borrow notes from, then you don't really have to attend tutorials.
I thought you can't add classes anymore though... good luck
