Ah, I knew they had to do it as part of their grad, but I thought they at least had to pass some sort of screening process before hand. I find it extremely stupid that I'm paying for bad teachers.

I don't know which prof you have. Again, profs are not required to take any teaching certifications/courses. However, they should have extensive experience dealing with other students/people through teaching/defense/marketing their thesis/etc.

Who do you have and what course is it? maybe she is new to Canada... everyone has their own story.

I totally agree that some people should not teach and just stick to research.
