They're a lot more prepared now, ever since the last instance of people getting stranded. They had gravel trucks and plows going already.

They do a pretty good job of keeping the roads ploughed/gritted... it's usually only in extraordinary cases (*cough* winter 2008-09) that classes end up being cancelled.

^Clearly, that isn't the case if school is open.
Things really have to be fubar'd before they close down school. One time busses were jack-knifed half way up the hill (on school property) and school was still open. Had to hike from the bottom all the way up.
By the time I got up there, class was 80% over, and I ended up taking the bus back down. FML.
