Was talking to some friends and they're telling me taking chem 281 with chem 122 and chem 126 is suicide, and taking it with math 100 is even more suicide.
Is this true? Should I drop 281 and take another easy class? I'm a bit lost here. I plan on keeping up with the homework and not slacking like I've done in 121. Thoughts? I just really don't wanna fuck my GPA up. I really want a 3.0 or higher this coming semester. Should I get a tutor for 281/122 & 126? any input is valued!
really? I didnt find it that difficult, only a few questions are tricky. And i swear he put that first question on there to fuck with us.
I dunno, I'm already not good at math, so I found it quite hard. Only ones I knew that I got for sure were the finance ones and Newton-Raphson. Completely forgot how to do Elasticity of Demand, forgot how to do implicit differentiation, my derivatives for the first/second derivative test and curve sketching didn't seem right to me... everything was a disaster. I focused more on the chapter 7 and 12 stuff, since he said that plus the inverse trig/trig differentiation was gonna be 80% of the test, when it wasn't.
lol, i know ch 12 was barely on there, but those questions were worth so many marks, iirc the simple interest or compound one was worth like 6 marks for barely anything.
Yeah, there were four finance questions and it was worth 24 out of 100 marks... only one of those four that was that challenging was the mortgage one, which I think I did mostly right, but screwed up the last step.
All I want is to get at least a C-, since that's the minimum you can get for business. I'm going into HRM and Marketing, so calculus is pretty useless for me. Have never gotten anything less than a B throughout high school and university so far (this is my fourth term), so this is kind of depressing.
I did it too, just think I calculated the interest wrong at the end. Calculated the monthly rate, rent, and value of the remaining amount correctly though.
I fucked up that mortgage question -_- and I also did it JUST before entering. I didn't think it was too too difficult. A couple tricks in some questions but it wasn't anything you hadn't really seen if you did the homework... Pretty much homework questions on roids lol.
I'm just worried the class avg is going to be ridiculously high... Posted via RS Mobile
Weird... I talked to around 20 people after the exam and all but one found it hard. Maybe we all just suck at math. haha it was way harder than his midterms.
I want to talk to an advisor and see if I can retake it at Kwantlen so I can get more one-on-one help. At least if I have to retake it I know some of it now. A lot of people I know in the class took it in high school, so that's something I wish I had done.

We offered a small MATH 151/154 review session this term to "test the waters" but we'll be rapidly expanding next term.
It's $20/session but it goes to a great cause, and you get 3 hours of review with a 3rd- or 4th-year student (if it's calculus, you might get me) in a classroom-type setting. Plus you get a review package to download with examples/key concepts/sample questions. It's a great way to review/identify knowledge deficiencies... look out for us next term, we'll be doing more course reviews (including MATH 157).

That would have been helpful. Too bad you haven't done it for 157 yet, but I would have definitely went if there was one.
Rather than retake it at SFU, is it even possible to retake it at Kwantlen? Has anyone done that for transfer credits?
haven't been motivated at all today... fuck I am so doomed tomorrow... was supposed to be my review day today.
