Yeah, I was going to take Korth's evening lecture, but switched to the Surrey one because I know a bunch of people taking it there, and for convenience, since I live in Surrey.

Well I don't get this shit?

I thought Math classes were scaled or curved? I checked and i got a lower mark than what I shoulda got?? WTF?

And the Prof is a total bitch. I know she's the type to go against curving scaling grades.. dunno why mine went down and no reply from the prof either...

Scaled and curved are completely different things but in the end aim to have similar outcomes.

Curving is basically assigning grades to a pre-determined distribution of grades among the students in a class (so like 10 As, 15 Bs, 40 Cs, 15 Ds and 10 Fs).

Scaling is when the average is either too high or too low and as a result, everyone is being brought down or brought up a certain percentage.

And no. Not all math classes are scaled or curved. The prof will tell you (or not depending if the how the averages are looking) if it is or it is not.

And getting a lower mark doesn't mean anything. It could simply be a mistake. I remember getting a C for a course when in reality I got an A-. I simply went to the prof (e-mailed then went in person) and fixed it in less than 5 mins.

I had an exam at 830 on the first day of exams, and I still havent got it back.

IIRC profs have until Jan 1st or something before they absolutely have to release your mark. However, most do it before Christmas day.

Took akbar and dunbar for fall.. Dunbar is boringgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg, holy gawd. Never went to a class after the first one.

I did a quick google search but didn't really come up with anything. Any perks or is this like the honour roll in highschool?

Read it and I also found a link talking about the "President's Honour Roll" which is a 4.0 GPA for a sem with at least 30 previous cred and 10 cred this sem. Or something like that.

Either way, challenge accepted.

lol strange ass semester I have to say.

THe class I expected an A in....got a B+

the class I expected a C+ in....

I had assignment scores of 7/10, 7/10, 5/10 (3 assignments worth 20% total -- hated this score considering most of my classmates got 10/10 lol)
then 9.5/15 and 7/15 on midterms 1 and 2 (30% total).

Final (worth 50%) I left a fair amount blank and only TRULY knew a few questions. Rest that were not blank were iffy. I expect a mark around 22/48 or something close to borderline. My ass was literally sore after walking out of the final because I swear I got raped (by my standards which are by far NOT close to 50% on a final worth 50%)

Ended up with an A
