It's not open to everyone yet. Some classes are reserved for students who are actually in the department so if you add it you'll be on the waitlist. |
oh ok cool thanks |

It's ridiculous those who never fucking ever bothered themselves to do anything for a class get a first pick just because they're in 4th year. Honestly, if they did and passed there'd have been enough space in these classes. What happens is the 4th year retards take the 3rd years' classes, the 3rd year retards take the 2nd years' classes, etc. and then 3rd and 2nd years have nothing left to take. Does anyone feel like starting a petition about this and handing it to the administration? |
Ah...The day's when students get fucked over during registration. Thank god it's almost the end for me. @slacker90 : It's not about who fails what and what year you are in.... Or, at least I don't think so. The main problem is there are too many students in econ with too little classes. Supply and Demand! If you take it to any higher up levels, they will rarely do anything about it. It's been happening for so many years with no changes. They will just go :fuckthatshit: while you go :okay:. |
yea 2nd years get the crappiest dates =[ |
yeeah, just got into one of the courses I wanted to take. So far: Bus 254 Econ 291 |

You guys also have to take into consideration the scholarship students too. My registration date this semester was on the 11th cause I'm only missing Econ 302 to grad. I know some scholarship students who are getting to register at around my time who haven't even started taking 300 lvl classes. |
SIS decides its gonna crash when its my time to register for courses. awesome |
sorry for noob question, but where can you check online for booklists? |
^sfu book store website, then go look for e-service and browse the catalog. |

Spots are reserved for people that are in that Faculty/School. Once they lift the reservation later (usually two weeks into the semester), anyone can register. |

^ Bingo. On the note of new professors and lecturers. Prepare to be bombarded with them next year. I already spot 5-8 newbies coming in for the 300--400 classes. Hoorah. Posted via RS Mobile |

I've heard lecturers like Akbar and Golovetskyy who teach almost all lower-division classes get paid ~ $4500 per semester to teach a 3 credits course, apparently much less than their TAs. No benefits like pension or dental plan. Why not hire more of them? You can pay their salary from enrolling two int'l students in the class. :) |
There is no way Akbar get's paid that little. People like Dunbar, Allen, Cox, all get 80-100K+. And they are the few better profs. On a side note, word on the street, I heard Akbar got fired or something. |

But check back and you'll see Akbar used to be a limited term lecturer teaching ~10 courses a year. Google for his cv (www.sfu.ca/~makbar/Akbar-CV.doc). I mean be reasonable - super easy classes but this guy is a joke, who would hire him as a prof? I've heard he got fired too but I think all they had to do was find an excuse not to give him another contract. Have a chat with some of the PhDs who've been around - you can learn lots of gossip and how things actually work. |
Apparently Lecturers make hardly anything..... We went through the payscale breakdown with our t.a..... |

Akbar showing his true colours at Kwantlen: uses calculus in his courses, gives different exams from the practice ones, 31 % averages on exams and fails people... Did he ever do any of this at SFU? Mohammad$Akbar - Kwantlen Polytechnic University - RateMyProfessors.com |
^LAWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLL From what I heard, the first time he taught econ305, he had a class average of 80%. From when I took 103 with him, he had the same practice midterm as the actual midterm, with the same spelling mistakes, and the same repeating double question. During the actual midterm, he just told us to skip it. |
