science, engineering, business majors.

what major are you in?

BrRsn 10-04-2011 04:01 PM

Sorry I wrote it wrong but it was asking for the limit as x approached 2, It was actually easy to solve but stupid loncapa wanted me to leave sin(2) in its whole number form, and not evaluate for it. I kept evaluating for it and used up like 5 tries trying to get it right.

Why the hell can't they just say "express answer in whole numbers"

Woke up at 10am been doing practice exams since then, took a nap, now its ling time! mwahaha. haha13 how are you studying for it? I got a stack of like 50 flashcards lol

aab 10-04-2011 04:47 PM

I'm on lecture 9-21(just started)
I skipped a lot of classes so this will be tough lol, I think I missed like 3 of the 8 lectures that we're being tested on. How are you doing? How have you been studying?

I've been reviewing flashcards and then reading the slides after, and kinda testing myself, so far so good I guess :heckno:

My life hack to staying up late/staying focused and studying.
Spoiler!

Just finished. i went through all the lectures, went through my flashcards ... tired. Gonna study some math now and pass out. :heckno:

We only need to know upto the 28th right, because that was the end of week 4?

The lecture from the 28th is kinda fucked up, will probably go over that again. I memorized the 6 characteristics of language, the Indo European family of languages... and some other crap. Bah, brains a mess right now. Gonna feel so good to have my celebration 11am beer at the pub on Friday.

Any other RS-ers wanna get tipsy on Friday? Hang out, have a few beers? 11am at the pub if you guys are down lol.

yep from my memory theres 6 laws of human language proposed by hocket

stupid dark pigeons dont do crap (my mnemonic for memorizing em lol)

Semanticity is the idea that every word has a specific and direct relation to real world situations.

Displacement is the ability to talk about stuff outside of the current frame (ie. something happened in a different place/time).

Productivity is the ability to produce infinite number of original new sentences from a finite number of words/terms

Duality of patterning - ability to make meaningful statements from discrete segments. Pattern that is repeated at various levels of language ie. sounds > words. Words > sentences. Sentences > discourse.

Discreteness - Property of sounds/words that makes them contrastive from one another. You must have discrete words in order to have duality of patterning.

Cultural Transmission - kids learn from parents.

So much mammorizings.
