OK pretty sure its final:

PHYS190 - learn about cosmos and shit to impress chicks
edit LING 100 - better boost my damn GPA

Anyone in these?

BrRsn 11-24-2011 12:06 AM

edit ... i thought you said ling100 .. its late and I'm a moron but from what people taking ling110 tell me, its much harder than ling100

Datsun 11-24-2011 12:08 AM

Who's your prof? Mine will be 'Tchizmarova" I think.

Damn it typo. I meant LING 100.

Datsun 11-24-2011 12:15 AM

Dunno why I said 110 originally, sorry about the confusion. Basically slides are very very important?

yeah its all slides but all the slides are on webct. It's a 70 minute lecture but its boring as hell and doesn't really help explain stuff. A better use of your time is to study for your harder classes and just make sure you make flashcards for your ling lecture weekly, that way you got study material ready to go, memorize a few days before the exam and get an A!

I got the courseware if you want it but like I said before depending on your prof it could be useless. My prof's name was christina galeano, my friend that took it in the summer had an asian prof (forgot name)

Datsun 11-24-2011 12:21 AM

Thanks. Will let you know about the prof

Anyone take CMNS 110 with Gary McCarron before? How was it? Would it be hard to take it as a distance education course??

yellowpower 11-24-2011 11:55 AM

Difference between kin 142 and kin 143??? ones intro and other isn't, and to top it off im not quite sure what the difference is between an intro course? is it just easier or what? Anyone taken it before??

Also, how is pysch? didnt take it in highschool. How is the reading load and stuff, just trying to find easy gpa boosters with hot girls in em

yellowpower 11-24-2011 11:58 AM

Loved it, even though the readings and note-taking is extremely exhausting from the pace that you need to maintain. Exams were essays using a mix between examples brought up in class and things you already wrote each week for tut, so no surprises. They mark quite strictly, so try to go beyond summarizing what the readings say.

Not sure about distance ed, try to take it in person because his lectures are great.

one more thing, the research paper near the end is a killer, at something like 14-15 pages for me. LOL
So start that shit really early, and dont hesitate asking the TA for any topic ideas. Even if you already have one, ask anyway because youll get a good idea how to fill up the pages and what to expand on to get dem dere points.

strykn 11-24-2011 12:59 PM

also taking buec 232 :P

took it a few semesters ago, its a pretty simple course; just math 12 probability and combinatorics + statistics stuff.
except class average is around 80% for my class, just stay above the bar and you'll be fine
good luck

Kin 142 is a general introduction of the course and you learn a bit about everything. Kin 143 focuses on the exercise component and pre-midterm stuff for 142 in a little more detail. For both, you need to learn all the major bones, muscles and their actions. 142 then also goes into nerves, motor control, and environmental factors that influence the body. 143 is mostly learning how to effectively exercise and the theory behind it. They both have labs but 143 is mostly fitness testing.

Psych 100 was fucking easy when I took it. Weekly readings, do a 10 min quiz every week, everything in lecture notes are on the exams (all MC).

3klipze 11-25-2011 11:02 AM

wth is wrong with some people? why you shake your leg like crazy when you sit in a lecture hall... the seats are all connected and its very uncomfortable to be shaking.. especially when everyone in the row feels it..
