Does anyone use their personal sfu webspace? I would like to set up a webpage but it keeps saying that my files are forbidden. (Actual .html file shows up however associated images linked from other folders don't work neither does the .css)

I would like to set up a blog with wordpress but this is being a headache

every SFU student is given their own web space to host whatever they want

to view publicly hosted material go to: www.sfu.ca/~ComputingIdHere

to access it via ftp you go to ftp://ComputingIdHere@fraser.sfu.ca

however, my problem is that any material that I post that I try to access it displays as "Forbidden" :failed: did the chmod 755 code and everything, still forbidden :/

I tried to set up Wordpress a while ago on SFU webspace... gave up eventually but I did stumble across this:

How to PHP on your SFU Webspace « Officer in Civvies

I get the idea that they don't want us running server side scripts on our webspace.

The_AK 05-06-2012 09:54 PM

^thanks dude, I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

make sure you chmod all files and all *sub-folders* too.

as for php scripts, i'm pretty sure those won't work.

yea, he's pretty boring, he has these stupid surprise quizzes so attendance is mandatory, you have only a midterm (no final), you have a big group project (write up and presentation), and you have 3 stupid writing assignments that you need to explain different things you "learned" and reflect back on a situation where your ethics were questioned. Really stupid class. Only good thing I got out of it was meeting my girlfriend (somewhat ironic since we were in the same group :ilied: ).

i think both 103 and 105 are curved.

Dont worry its not "easy" as bus courses, so the averages usually hovers around 55-65% for midterms
