Just realized it said "Business students with greater than 45 units will not receive credit for BUS 201."
Does anyone know if this still applies...if say...you're an Arts student? |

Anyone ever went through Athabasca University Transfer into SFU?
I know that transferring to SFU requires me to have 24 credits and an English and Quantitative Course. I have the 24 credits but don't have the Quantitative and English course.
I called SFU to ask what will transfer to SFU from Athabasca for English and Quantitative course the guy told me over the phone that he doesn't know and there is no guaranteed like (bc transfer guide) and I have to take courses then ask them after?
WTF?

^ you can do double major in 120 credits, major A does not count major B as majors, so you don't need to take non major upper levels; only do WQB

Might do the minor program so the help is appreciated | BUS 237- take it with Maryam Ficociello. I found the course easy but alot of work involved. Both the mt and exam are both m/c and are based on the lecture notes. Make sure to lecture notes in detail as much of the exam focuses on the small details.
BUS 251- take it with Anne Macdonald. Shes great at explaining the concepts and exams are fair. Make sure you understand the concepts of asset, equity, and liability as everything is revolved around it.
BUS 272- take it with Christopher Zatzick. I heard he is one of the best profs to take OB with. Make sure to write down everything he says in lecture especially the videos as 5% of the exams will have questions regarding it.
ECON 103- take it with SeongJunChoi. Explains the concepts very clear. I am taking it with him right now and I found both mt very fair. Focus on the lecture notes, weekly assignments, and weekly m/c questions. Exam format is 30% m/c, 70% written. The 30% m/c is made up of the weekly m/c questions so make sure to understand them or memorize them. 70% written is based on the weekly assignments and lecture notes so be sure to read into depth.
good luck!

good luck! | Zatzick is heading back to California.
251 with Anne for sure. I TA'd for her and took the class with her. She's awesome.
I took 237 with Kamal Masri. I found the MT challenging but the final super easy. You have to study from the book and the notes. Details do matter. Assignments are long but not hard.

ECON 103 Principles of Microeconomics - Doug Allen | Doug allen is one of the hardest profs imo. I took it with Ahkbar, I believe he got fired though. Ratemyprofs will probably have ratings for some of the newer profs.
Friends took ECOn 103 with Iryna Dudnyk, and their tests weren't that bad. Not easy, but not hard.
BUS 237 is same/similar with most profs. They use a testbank I believe. Regardless, it's pure memorization of the boring textbook, so regardless of the prof, it should be similar. That being said, I heard Peter Tingling is extra hard cause he wrote the book...
BUS 251 - Anne Macdonald is probably easiest.
BUS 272 - Depends on your TA. They mark all the assignments. Similar to 237, it's a pure memorization course. Chris Zatzick does a good job lecturing/presenting the material though. A lot more interesting than other profs.

Did anyone here took, or know people who took or are in process of taking Geographic Information Science?
I'm banging my head debating between Computer Science or Geographic Information Science. Since I'm a transfer student and all my transfer credits are in CMPT these 2 are my only options (Geography would also be an option since I noticed there are almost no specific courses req for lower divison except a few).
Basically I want to know which of the 2 is the least stressful. I already have a diploma in Programming, and I'm sick of programming. I don't want to have anything to do with it anymore.
So my questions are, would the Geographic Information Systems upper division GEOG courses are hard? Are they less stressful, and less work than UD CMPT courses?
Here are the ones required: Quote:
and three of
GEOG 351 Multimedia Cartography (4)
GEOG 352 Spatial Analysis (4)
GEOG 353 Advanced Remote Sensing (4)
GEOG 355 Geographical Information Science II (4)
GEOG 356 3D Geovisualization (4)
| Quote:
and two of
GEOG 451 Spatial Modeling (4)
GEOG 453W Theoretical and Applied Remote Sensing (4)
GEOG 455 Theoretical and Applied GIS (4)
GEOG 457 Geovisualization Interfaces (4)
| Feedback please?

I'm banging my head debating between Computer Science or Geographic Information Science. | I don't know much about either industries, but I did meet a GIS summer student at the company i'm working at (mining company). He said it's a good industry to get in. Since Vancouver is known as the "mining exploration centre", I would say it might be a good field to get in if you plan on staying in the city. There's something like 1k+ mining exploration companies here in BC.
That being said, I've been poking my head into computer science / programming, as the IS/IT/MIS industry is flourishing over the past years.

Might do the minor program so the help is appreciated | 237 - Took this class with Kamal Masri. His exams are entirely on lecture slides and the textbook and they are all multiple choice.
251 - Took this with Anne Macdonald. Her classes are very engaging so you will hardly ever get bored during her lectures
Econ 103 - Took this class with Doug Allen. His lectures are very interesting as he often tells stories to the class. The technical questions + graphs can be confusing and he barely goes over them in class so you'll have to go over them yourself.

Wow big FU to SFU.
Was 7th on the waitlist for EDU471 distance due to department restrictions. The restrictions get lifted on July 28th. 10 minutes before they get lifted I check to see there are still 12 available seats (So theoretically I should be able to get in). Check again 5 minutes past midnight and the "waitlisted" people did not get enrolled into the course and the course is now full. wtffff this was suppose to be my last course before I graduate too

It's because the waitlists are only processed twice a day, so if there is an opening because some one dropped you can get in before people who are waitlisted for the class. Hope that kinda makes sense.
