Thats the thing I want to find out.

I recall earlier that someone had mentioned that they make you pay the tickets off first or something. However, I also asked someone else and they said they applied to grad with nothing of this sort (this person has a lot of tickets)

You into Asian history/culture? ASC101 and 102 are pretty easy, and fulfills b-hum requirements. I'm also selling the 101 books if you're interested :fullofwin:

did anyone here take buec 232 with michael Johnson? Did you guys use the textbook at all because I plan on not buying the text ( some comments on ratemyprof says it's not needed)

No need for text book, just use his notes. Enjoy that free A+.
Also, try to take Bus 336 with him. Same stuff!

Splmash 08-21-2012 03:40 PM

336 was the easiest course I've taken thus far at SFU. Not sure if it was the class material that was easy or was it Michael Johnson who was a great teacher.

It was a pretty chill class. You have 2 partner assignments and 5 individual online assignments which you can retake over and over to achieve 100%. Only thing about the retakes is that the questions change.

You might want to actually purchase the textbook because some of his extra questions comes from the text.

Midterms and finals are based on the problem sets so if you are comfortable doing them then you are fine.

Now the bad thing about the course is that most people will most likely find the course relatively simple. Therefore the curve will massively screw you.

In my case, I got an 86% on the midterm and nearly perfect on the assignments. So at that point I would be going into the final with a 90%. Now after I took the final which I found fair, I was surprised to see my grade as a B+. Much to my dismay I was not able to check my final exam since I wasn't present during the first week of the following semester.

To put it short, it's a chill class, but make sure you are really earn as much points leading up to the final.

Did you need to read the textbook or did you only use it for the practice questions?

Fcukedd 08-24-2012 12:45 AM

Is there anywhere I can park that's free on the Burnaby campus?
Doubt it since we're on a mountain, but it's worth a shot LOL

I have a 50 minute tutorial on Thursdays; just planning to drive up there..

bakasam 08-24-2012 12:45 AM

I used it only for the practice questions. His notes and lecture will be suffice to understand the course material. Kepp in mind that you do need to purchase the Mymathlab code that comes with an e text or with an actual textbook. Either case, you still need to purchase the code which comes with the textbook or e text.
