i had shih en for 302 and yeah hes the harvard graduate genius (bachelors -> phd at harvard) . ur angus will be peppered.

the exams are extremely difficult. the mt average was retarded...like 32% i think with a highest mark a little under 50%. the final was just as hard except the whole course had to be curved or else everyone would fail. ended up with a b. also his notes are useless so just study the quantitative assignments he gives out and make sure u dont fuck up on them since they count for a lot.

also this is the type of class where the TA u get will make or break u so i suggest getting into/attending tutorials for the best TA for the class. also get help from the TA's as much as possible.

So usually the class system updates late at night/early morning (2/3am) so thats when all the added people are processed. if you are on a waitlist, it is processed 2x a day, once in the middle of the night and once during the day. if you see the class is open, never ever waitlist. If you have a friend in a class that is jam packed that wants to drop, you can usually get him/her to drop and add yourself quickly thereafter and get into the class, bypassing all the waitlisted people. This is how people sell spots in classes, this is also why the system is flawed

I don't think this works anymore, there was a spot open and when i clicked register, it says "The class number entered is a duplicate. Try another."

Having second thoughts on EDUC 100.

I know it's suppose to be a very easy "GPA booster" and all.
But I'm not sure the class material will really interest me at all.
85-90% of the class....are seriously people with intentions to become a teacher.

Anyone taken this course before can comment further?

yray 09-05-2012 03:11 AM

^LOL use the course to meet chicks :troll:

On a separate note, my ex is no longer occupying west mall, means I can park at WMC :fullofwin:

He mentioned in his syllabus that books aren't mandatory but there are a few that are helpful. What do u think it's best that I use to read or studying? Surely I can't study for this class only from his lecture notes and assignments?

Yup, that's him. I found the course OK, but a lot of people failed. My tip would be to really understand the material and not just the types of questions. His exam questions are not going to be similar to the homework questions, and he will tell you the same thing in the first class.
He also combines various concepts learned into a single question on the exam which can be quite confusing with no previous practice.

Good luck!

G 09-06-2012 01:10 AM

^ I thought you graduated...

ALSO SOMEONE BUY MY BUEC333 BOOK

I also have a textbook that I kinda used for 302... And shih en is cool man. I'm fb friends with that nig, he's straight up gangsta. Don't be pussy and not approach him, despite how intimidating you think he is, he will tutor you his extra time for free to help you and it's hella useful that you don't fall behind. He's usually in his office so don't be afraid to holla questions.

Heard he made the class easier though. Us, the ones that got first time Shih-En, had it roughhhhhhh.....
