take doug allen for econ 103, solid prof, disliked by many but you'll learn something

Although Doug Allen may be a hard professor, he actually teaches the material really well. In addition, his lectures are pretty amusing.

That is true. Most hard professors are ones that care a lot about the course and will go above and beyond during their lectures to maximize the learning opportunities. At the end of the day it depends if you're there to learn or there for the marks. I had the easiest prof possible for econ 103 and learned absolutely nothing. While it did make it a bit harder in later courses like bus 207, having a solid mark on your transcript and a boost to the CGPA is always beneficial.

such a big change from high school. only 4th week of school and gotta start studying for midterms the following week? the fuck...

think of it like chapter tests. In hs, you were given 2-3 weeks to learn a chapter and in uni, its 1 chapter per week.

you will get used to it dont worry.

i think choi is pretty easy if you are going for marks, but if its the learning you want, I guess allen would be better.

hey Guys, i will need to head down to sfu surrey on thursday and was wondering which way i should take (driving) from richmond that will take me the least amount of time to get there. I live in Richmond by garden city and cambie road.

Should i take highway 99 ? How long does it usually take to get there at night (leave richmond at 7 45pm)

I never been there before

Unless you go before 9am theres really no point. I did it for a semester. Uber packed with stupid kids doing curls unless you go early.

I had gulriz barkin for 103. Your mark will correlate to the amount of study hours you put in. Her notes were good but her teaching needs improvement. Use the book for clarification and study guide for practice and you should do fine. 30% of our class got A's but the average was a C+. 5 people got an A+.

Doug Allen: Massive douche bag. I attempted to do some of his midterm questions to prepare but couldn't answer any confidently. You can't study for his exams because they are not based on the material explicitly. His exams consists of stupid situational questions that incorporate some material learned in the course.

Now a question for you Doug Allen dick riders.

Was the valuable stuff you learned from him really worth the mediocre grade you received ?

Likewise... I'm still in high-school mode. Slacking off way too much
Midterms in 2 weeks I think I'm going to kill myself

BrRsn 09-28-2012 11:49 PM

^everyone gets butt raped first semester. Try to avoid the rape as much as possible and don't try to rationalize your short comings by saying 'but its my first semester, oh well'. Try your best, as long as you get B's you won't get too screwed over by your first year marks in the long run

GrapeDrink 09-29-2012 12:05 AM

man anyone in bus336 know how to do #3 on the assignment? my decision tree looks so mentally retarded that I know I'm wrong lol
