A lot of companies and industries even have cutoff GPA's where they don't even LOOK at your resume if it's below a certain number. (eg: Consulting is usually 3.5+, best consulting firms like MBB are 3.8-4.0+). Of course, there's the very rare exceptions where people network their way into a big company, but for the majority of the people, GPA is one of the first things some employers look at.
