For some reason, this just reminds me of the occupy protests. I have absolutely zero respect for CUPE members, how can you justify fighting for your cause by screwing over the only demographic that's truly powerless in all of this?

It's funny because they probably picked the WRONG guy to showcase because everyone knows that Kin 143 is one of the best courses at SFU and he's a good prof.

I supported CUPE for their need for more $ (lowest in Canada) but they keep shooting themselves in the foot like entitled assholes with shit like this. SFU has gained a ridiculous amount of leverage once this video goes viral in the community.

How much do they get paid? I heard somewhere around 20$. Last time I checked, people with degrees have jobs that pay less than that.

If they don't like it I am sure there are people working at McDonalds who would love having their job.

I hope SFU screw them up, even fire them if they can and hire new people (I don't know how unions work so not sure if they can do that).

They want higher wages at the expense of students who will obviously have to pay more tuition to cover their wage increase.

TSSU is the same crap. They say they did not had a contract for 2 years. But someone told me that they actually turned down every contract offered to them in that timeframe because they didn't like it.

What's more than that, they bend you over when they correct your exams. I mentioned in this thread how I got back 20% more on my exam by requesting a re-mark from the senior instructor. They enjoy venting off by making students grades miserable because 20$+ per hour is not enough. To me it looks like a sence of entitlement, just like waitresses who expect 15% no matter what

Though even after watching the video, I don't think that the TSSU would do something like that. I'm sure it was someone that felt humiliated by the TSSU that thought by posting this, it would put an even horrid light on the TSSU thus giving them the even shittier end. I do agree that the handling of the incident was immature as fuck, but I'm sure there's some kind of maturity there. They might be on strike but they're also adults.

But then again, those are also the adults that were telling me that I could skip my exams just by sending my professor an email saying that I didn't want to cross the picket... Hmm....
