How's bus 374? organizational theory

BillyBishop 11-14-2013 01:13 PM

Does anybody have trouble accessing the SIS on Chrome? It only works for me with incognito mode.

Purely 11-14-2013 01:32 PM

if there is a waitlist and a friend has saved me a spot, is there a way to swap it (e.g. friend drops it at night)

Jgresch 11-14-2013 01:39 PM

no, it goes to the first person on the wait list...

that only works if the course doesn't allow a wait list, and then your friend drops and you add it right away.

^ Yes this will work for sure, if there's no waitlist. I remember a while ago, even if there was a waitlist you'd still be able to get the dropped class if you were fast enough (apparently it's changed now so if there's a waitlist it instantly goes to the first person)

Which one are you looking at? Monday one or Tues? I'm in the Monday class with Cotterall right now but I'm not sure if I'll keep it lol.

Purely 11-14-2013 08:52 PM

gonna take HR instead, managed to get into 381 with Brent Lyons (anyone know anything about him?)

Pretty upset how I couldn't get into 320 on Wednesday.. so I would have a more even schedule.

Currently 10:30am - 8:20pm on one of my days next sem... can't drop/edit sigh sigh sigh no tears..

v_tec 11-15-2013 02:22 AM

Is CMPT 165 online vs. actual lecture that much harder/easier??

Purely 11-15-2013 02:36 AM

cmpt165 in person with anne was brutal... don't recommend

v_tec 11-15-2013 03:48 AM

Which of these writing courses are easiest? Already have 101.

Engl 102W-3 Introduction to Poetry
Engl 103W-3 Introduction to Drama
Engl 104W-3 Introduction to Prose Genres
Engl 105W-3 Introduction to Issues in Literature & Culture
Eng 199W-3 Introduction to University Writing
Phil 001-3 Critical Thinking
Phil 100W-3 Knowledge and Reality
Phil 120W-3 Introduction to Moral Philosophy
WL 101W-3 Writing About Literature
WL 103W-3 Pre-Modern World Literature
WL 104W-3 Modern World Literature

fs604 11-15-2013 05:52 AM

^ torsten kehler is teaching 103 next sem, heard he was pretty easy, low course load. but marks really depend on ur essay skills and ta's, as usual.

buffon 11-15-2013 06:46 AM

104 is pretty good. But it really all depends on the books and the TA.

Should I go with bus 393 with adamson or Bus 374 with cotterall?

Jgresch 11-15-2013 08:30 AM

I did 104 in my first year and it was a nightmare for me... I think now I'd probably do okay, but wasn't expecting that for a first year course.

obento_supreme 11-15-2013 08:48 AM

^

+1 I took Eng104 and it was horrible at least for me. I took 120W with Dai Heide and I found him to be a great prof but it depends on the TA as well since they will be marking your papers

v_tec 11-15-2013 10:13 AM

I'm ruling out ENGL 102/104/199.

How's 105's content like? Read a few novels and write shit?

kunoman1 11-15-2013 10:53 AM

That rush to register for courses you want...

I took English 199 and I recommend it personally if you don't like analyzing metaphors and symbolism in literature

Small seminar style class too if you aernt into that big class environment for english

I'd suggest Critical Thinking. Even if it's not the easiest, you'll learn a great deal more valuable things from that than from any of the English courses.

I forgot to buy a book in 105 and relied solely on coles notes most of the time :lawl:

Atsui 11-15-2013 02:54 PM

phil xx1 is the easiest

xXSupa 11-15-2013 02:56 PM

^Phil XX1 is a hit or miss.

It was a hit for me and I really enjoyed it. Very interesting topics and everything.

Most people I talk to hate it though, lol

G-nerd 11-15-2013 04:12 PM

Regret concentrating in Finance. Should have done accounting major. More career prospects.
