Been lurking on here for quite a while. Decided to make an account.
I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the letter grade D and F? Like if I performed poorly in a class like 30-40% do I get a D or F? And when do I get a F?

depends on the class -- need some more context than that

This usually depends on the average of the class and your professor. If you do poorly in the class and everyone is getting around the same grade as you, then it would most likely get scale up.

It's a class that requires you to pass the final in order to pass the class. A couple of my acquaintances have also failed and are retaking it this semester. I have also heard people failing the class twice, and retaking it the 3rd time through the permission of the advisor...

MACM101 correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt it. I took that class first year and went into the final with 75%, failed the final and it was GG. If it is MACM101 and you're having this much trouble, you might want to look at getting a tutor for the next time you take it, don't forget you still need to take MACM201 which is significantly harder.

went down univercity only to find that there wasn't a single spot, so i went to the wmc parking lot (exhaust + enclosed area :megusta:) then realized i had no money, so i went back to univercity and ended up at the very end :okay:

If it's not a core course, you get credit for D, but no for an F.

^ Thanks... But it is really depressing, I'm mad at myself, a few people tell me to study hard for it, I want to and give my best try, but I don't think I'm gonna pass regardless. I'm having a mental breakdown, everytime I try to study for it, my mind is saying no, you can't do it. I have been going at it since tuesday, but everytime I look at the notes, it's just not working. A course has never done something like this to me before.

and yea I know I have to retake it but a D is worth 1.00 GPA, F is 0.

Everyone i've talked to is scared chitless for the final. No matter how well you do on the 2 midterms, if you fail the final you fail the course which is stupid.

I have a final the day before the course and all I'm studying right now is that course

Do study hard for it, I'm one of many that's retaking it and I'm still worried I'm gonna fail.

lol.. that sounds like me in first year.

Here's what's helped me:

1) Make a clean study area -- when you're stuck you will look for anything distracting
2) light a candle -- aroma therapy helps, and if you feel stuck the flame can be a nice little escape
3) Put yourself in the professor's shoes -- it is impossible for him to ask you everything. The whole time you're studying trying to ask yourself what good questions would be.
4) vitamin string quartet -- it's classical music covers of popular songs without the lyrics to distract you. Or, listen to Rainy Mood -- you need some ambient noise or you'll go insane.
