Managed to pull off a 57% on the final without studying since it was on the very last day of exams and I had my bpk 241 exam right before hand which interested me way more.

I heard bpk 110 with diana bedoya was really good. Too bad her classes didnt fit my schedule :rukidding:

Diana is probably my favourite prof at SFU, even though I've only had one class with her. A very interesting person to listen to, which is essential for an 830 class.

For those considering BPK110, definitely take it with her. Exams are pulled directly out of the lecture slides, and I got an A- with minimal studying.

Wtf at the class averages with the other profs lol I remember midterm and final averages being around 70-75%

I second that. It's honestly the easiest and most fun course I ever took. If Ben Unterman is offering it, take it. Such a good lecturer. Really funny and entertaining. I actually felt kinda sad when the sem was over, mostly cause I knew the rest of my courses would never be that easy or fun heh

Has anyone done Bus 441 Web analytics or Bus 445 Customer analytics? Thoughts on the difficulty level would be appreciated, torn between choosing one. Both taught by Jason Ho.

BAM. Last exam for my degree. 5 year journey and I'm glad Its over. Next step in life with a full time job waiting for me in Jan. Met awesome people on here and made friends along the way. It was definitely stressful, but worth the challenge.

Good luck everyone!

BlueCrayon 12-16-2015 01:22 PM

Anyone with a red cooper S on campus today?

It was the night before my calc 2 final
Did horrible on every midterm
Terrible on every quiz
Loncapa was a joke
Was so depressed that night, almost cried
Couldn't talk to anyone
Told myself that there's literally no point to taking the final, cause I know I'm just gonna fail it and have to retake it next semester and have to have class at 830 AM AGAIN FUCK
But I was like, nah b, lets go balls to the wall
Didn't end up sleeping that night
All I ate that night was peanut butter sandwiches

Turns out, it was worth it

I graduated with a Bachelors in Computing Sciences. I have been doing part-time DBA for the past 2 years and recently signed on full time with the company.

I'm happy to help out anyone here with their computer science and co-op related questions!

Which LBST course or prof is the easiest? Missing 2 FASS units.

SofaKingFast 12-24-2015 04:18 PM

Has anyone appealed a grade before?
Short summary:
-took engl 105
-read all the required readings and worked hard on every essay
-course is based solely on essays
-gets unfair mark on essays
-confronts TA but gets shit on
-TA marks everything in this course, prof just teaches lecture
I consider myself to be a good student, i do very well on all my other courses and legitimately tried hard in this course and still ended up with a C and now i wish to appeal
my mark as i'm almost 100% sure i deserve at least a B-

Shayan4440 12-24-2015 05:05 PM

I highly doubt they would change your grade ^ Your reasons are purely bias.

You would have to get your essays marked by another person.

Geoc 12-24-2015 08:46 PM

If you're gonna appeal, you're just gonna get shat on. Grade appeals are generally for stuff like administrative mishaps, school policy violations, or something that is clearly right graded wrong. With something as qualitative as English, you're gonna up a creek with a paddle.

I took ENGL105W in the past, I managed to get away with a B+ without reading a single book, this shouldn't be a 'work hard' kinda course, if you did, you might be doing something wrong. I'm curious as to how the TA 'shit' on you. Did you fight for marks, or did you ask him/her what you did wrong and how you could write better for next writing assignment.

That's the unfortunate reality with writing courses. If the TA/marker for whatever reason doesn't like you, you can expect them to give you a lower mark when grading your papers.

Same thing happened to me in BUS 360W. My prof hated me because I made a bad first impression, and it all just went downhill from there. When I went into office hours to ask how I can improve my writing, the only responses I got were "you should know", "what do you think?" and "you tell me". Very unhelpful imo, lol. Ended up with a C in that class.

One year later, I retook it with a different prof, and ended up with an A-. This prof actually cared about his students and you could tell he wanted them to do well.

You can try to appeal your grade if you want, but don't expect it to get anywhere. If you ask me, I'd just brush it off and move on. It's an English course and it's not really that important since you're a business student. The only writing course that employers MIGHT look at is BUS 360W, so just make sure you do well in that.

Phozy 12-25-2015 11:30 AM

Which profs did you have for 360W?
