Crim315

30% of your grade will basically be given for your weekly reflections and worksheets. 1 pg + 1 paragraph.

You will get a decent mark for giving a half a fuck doing your papers

Not so much an academic class but more emotions to it. If you approach it right, it could be a very therapeutic course. Papers can include personal stories and anecdotes already off the bat there is 1 or 2 pages or more where it isn't academic writing and referencing required

So, what interests you?

^So true. I took ASC 101 this semester because I needed one more B-Hum, I ended up self learning everything on google few days before the midterm and the final which I just wrote today.

I thought it would be interesting, but I found out the hard way it just wasn't my thing lol.

Finally done with SFU!

:fuckyea:

Good luck with your finals and studies everyone else.

Has anybody successfully dispute a final grade in the past over 1%. If so, how did you present your argument and approach? Was it successful? Not trying to go the formal route, since there wasn't a mistake on the prof's part, but rather, want to know what kind of reasoning you guys used to get sympathy or to convince them to give you one more mark.

Feels pretty shitty to get a 84% when I worked hard all semester. Was looking forward to seeing the letter A for the first time on my final mark since coming to SFU :okay:

I'm going to assume the answer you'll get from your prof will be somewhere along the lines of "If I did that for one student, I would have to do it for every student or else it would be unfair" and then they go on about how it would be too much work.

Many of my profs now specifically write in their syllabus that they won't bump anyone under any circumstances.

Got a 90.38%, cut-off for an A was 91%. I had previously emailed the prof about my group members not doing their share of work and I ended up doing the whole project myself. She didn't do anything about it at the time even though she asked for their names, and wouldn't bump me up .12%. She said it was about obeying the "rules" and making it fair for others. FeelsBadMan

xXSupa 04-17-2016 11:14 PM

1% is a pretty far stretch. Anything over 0.5% I wouldn't bother. Profs won't bump you up because then they would have to bump everybody else up or else it wouldn't be fair.

Also, the bigger your class, the less likely the prof will bump you up. If it was a large -ish class, then there's definitely 2-3 others above you, also right below that cut off.

I know how you feel though.. lol

I think my brain doesn't want to function anymore. Sucks that my last exam this semester is on the 23rd...

If any of you guys are also living in the SFU library like me everyday, feel free to keep me company :tears:

I was debating between taking it DE or in lecture but I ended up taking it online. Did you take it online as well?

J.C 05-24-2016 12:11 PM

I took it in class and it was nice having tutorials to discuss the class material. That helped alot

Anyone know what happened at Applied Science at like ~2:15pm? All the firetrucks and firemen ._.

OGCStrike 12-19-2016 08:06 PM

anyone take arch 100 with David Maxwell before? i'm currently planning a trip during reading break, but I don't know when the midterm dates are for this class.
if anyone has a course outline from previous semesters, is it possible to send it to me? maybe I could guess what day the midterm will be on.

ive tried emailing him, but he hasn't replied...

Fcukedd 03-03-2017 04:43 PM

Can anyone recommend an interesting B-Hum course? Preferably with minimal papers

jcmaz 03-04-2017 02:19 AM

ENSC106W (I think or the other ENSC companion course). 1 paper and 1 huge group project with 1st years about building some random stuff. It's a nice course but you need to have the co-requisite achieved with a upper division W class.
