Anyone in Psych and Crim? I'm taking first and second year courses this Jan and was wondering if midterms are BEFORE or AFTER spring break...and also, I'm coming from Kwantlen. How much harder will SFU courses be on average?
Just not too sure what kind of differences to expect.

Just not too sure what kind of differences to expect. | Midterms come both before and after spring break. Every course is different so you will need to check the syllabus for the particular course.
You can view course outlines here (all you have to do is find your course): http://www.psyc.sfu.ca/ugrad/index.p...&yr=2010&sem=1
It will break down the course in what is graded. If you see more than 1 midterm, it is likely to have one before and one after spring break.
There is the same thing for Crim courses so all you have to do is look it up yourself.
As for how much "harder" SFU is, well, I can't really answer that. I guess it depends on the individual. I was always under the impression that school is as hard or as easy as you want to make it. If you keep up with your work and do all the assigned readings/assignments, it should be "easy". Whereas if you're going to procrastinate, it may be hard for you.
It just all depends on the type of person you are. No one can really decide for you other than yourself.
What courses are you taking?

On another topic, for Crim 101, do you need the textbooks or is there something less that you need?
IE only the tutorial manual or whatever it is. This will be for Cartwright.

yuck to psyc207
tutorial are just small classes (around 15 people) where your TA clarifies information for you, and in classes with presentations, which most crim courses I've taken had, you do your presentation in your tutorial section instead of the lecture hall.
I remember for Barry's 101 class, you could just use his lecture notes and read the tutorial textbook and do pretty well.
edit: which texts are required this semester? I could see if I still have mine

Being a science student, I'm pretty much required to have one for a lot of my courses so I just keep it handy in my bag.

hey guys what happened to all the bookswap websites?
I used to use sfssbookswap but that seems like it's down, what are some other sites that I can post/buy textbooks for SFU? There must be more than just one site.

How do tutorial classes work? | crim 103 with boyanowsky? his classes are extremely boring, overall pretty easy though!
i believe...if it's the same as last year, one in class-tutorial presentation...where you research about a killer and just speak to the class haha! very easy! one midterm and one final. class was scaled last year! very generous!

Hello, new to this forum =]
If anyone still needs to buy the Crim 101 books, I have the boundaries and the regular textbook? I took Crim 101 in Fall with Barry Cartwright. So I am pretty sure the text books are right. I still have the notes and everything typed up on my computer and I made a kinda condensed notes for mid/final if you guys want it.
The 3 hour lecture + tutorials are pretty tiring but if you have a laptop and friends beside you, its actually pretty enjoyable.
I'm taking Cmpt 165 too, heard that some people here are taking it as well? I read it at page.. 70 something and didn't want to read 8 more pages lol = - ="
Anybody taking Cmpt 150, Math 152 and Poli Sci 101W?
I'm scared of cmpt 150, prereq is macm 101.. (with steven pearce) I thought I was going to fail that course but it turns out i did ok... C+
Has anyone taken poli sci 101W? How is it? I'm debating whether to take it or take EDUC 100W at downtown and drag my days even longer... =[
I need an easy W course or an easy alternative for poli sci. Government stuff doesn't really interest me (hated socials studies 11)
