couldn't get on sfunet or sfunet secure yesterday and thought my laptop was fucked. then i went home and got this email:
The security administrator has taken away your access to the SFU wireless network due to viral activity having been detected from your computer or mobile device. If your device is a laptop please use up to date antivirus software to scan and remove the virus and download any security patches from Microsoft for your operating system. There is no one anti virus program that can detect all the variations of malware so you may have to try more that one. In some cases you may need to re-install your OS to get rid of the infection. For mobiles such as iphones or ipads you may need to wipe it and install a supported version of IOS.
Let us know when you have cleaned your device by sending us a detailed email of what you did and what malware was found and then access can be restored. At the earliest opportunity it is recommended that you change the password to your SFU computing account as it may have become compromised.
