That's a pretty good deal you got there. Did you have an option of signing a 2 year contract instead of three with this plan?

No because i HUP-ed to the iPhone 4, which required a 3 year contract. No matter though, because the credits go until the end of my contract, I can keep the 17.50+30 pricing.

$10 Value pack: 2500 SMS, Call display, Voicemail
-$10 Credit: Value pack for 3 years
$30 6GB iPhone data plan

$17.50+$30.00+HST.
Also got the iPhone 4 16GB for $159+HST-Fido Dollars.
Push for the above plan with fido2fido/rogers for $40 plus tax. I have the exact same plan as above with credits for the value pack, fido2fido/rogers, $5 data credit, and another $2.50 credit on the $17.50 plan = $44.80 tax in. Did not require reup as I had 11 months left in Dec. Now 5 months left and eligible for a hup to the iphone 4. I really dont mind locking in for another 3 years with this plan.

You either had a really great argument, a long term customer with high revenue, or pure lucky with a happy retention agent.

They rarely give credits more than the base plan price.
Base plan price: 17.50
Your credits: $10(VP)+$10(Network calling)+$5(data)+$2.50(base)=$27.50 of credits. On a $17.50 plan! Wow.

It may be all 3, I have been with them for over 7 years now and was with them for a few years before that on and off. I used a corporate plan I am able to obtain as a base for the options I wanted and went from there. I was always nice to the reps and the first 2 ppl I spoke to didnt get anywhere close to what I really wanted. Though I never really said I wanted to cancel, I only made it sound like I was. I just asked them simple questions like how long I have left on my contract?, how much would the ecf be?, I would have them ask why I wanted to leave and then they would offer me a package. The 3rd rep I spoke to over the week was extremely helpful, gave me everything I asked for and more. I didnt qualify for a hup but since I had 2 lines, she said that my other line that my wife uses qualifies but would need a data plan for the 3GS. I told her I didnt want to pay for something she wouldnt use and she said, ok, she'll add the 150mb plan for $15 and give you a $10 credit so it would only be $5 a month. So I got the 3GS in December for $25 after hup and fido$ and now qualify for an iPhone 4 on my main acct for $159, plus I got a $50 credit today on my bill which will drop it to $75 after fido$ when they restock. My 2nd line which just got a hup in December, qualifies for a hup for the iPhone 4 @ $399 but my wife wants to wait for the white version. I love Fido and will not be leaving them anytime soon!

Not entirely. Therefore just call, and negotiate friendly. Try to aim for my plan (just basic), and then work towards the other guy's plan (advanced).

Do they still offer the 17.50 plan? My contract is ending soon and I've been with them roughly 4 years, and do you think it'll be possible to get any plans close to your guys'?

that's considered very good, but do you really need unlimited calling?

that's the one I wanted. did u tell them u r leaving at all?

11 months is stacked onto 3 years now with Fido I believe. so you have almost 4 years on the contract I believe.

if you read the iphone4 thread, there are some information about unlock/lock

basically all iphone4s are unlocked, it depends on how they scan your phone and sim.

at the end, they asked for my IMEI, so I am sure the phone will now be locked under Fido.

it's okay.. I am sure I can spend $40 or so to get it unlocked if I wanted to in the future.

Well, unlock is free now with ultrasn0w today and jailbreakme.com. I know the phone wont be locked until u activate it. however, there seem to be an "unlocked" version from apple store that you are paying full price at that's never going to lock itself up. It's either that or I am really confused....

this should clear things up for you, copied from iphone 4 thread

You can do the activation at home or at apples it makes no difference because they lock the phone to the provider at the time of the purchase not at activation.

Don't do activations in store, you can easily do that yourself at home and the apple "activation genius" sure like to take their sweet time.

Called on the 30th, and ordered @ 16gb Iphone 4

had to pay $399 for the phone + renewing a 3 year term. Didn't mind because it was only adding on +/- 7 months.

Already had a decent plan, but wanted to add data

200 daytime
evenings + weekends @ 5
fido to fido
2500 txt
unlimited incoming calls\
call id/ voicemail etc..
6 gb data

$50.40 tax in

plan prior to re-negotiations was ~$28/month no data.
got 6gb added with $10/month credit

used Rogers + Wind mobile as bargaining tools
