- Be Nice - Go to a competitor's site (Telus, Bell, Koodo, Virgin Mobile) and use their promotion plans as a base for negotiation - Inform them of your needs, and they will provide you with counter-offers. Sometimes it could be good, other times it can be junk. - Ur "free goodies" will depend on how long you've been with Fido and how much you pay on your monthly bill. Those who usually fork out alot of cash every month, generally get very generous incentives from retentions. - If the agent wouldn't budge, just let them know that ur not interested in their offer and just call back another time. You don't need to be afraid that they will cancel your account because they will always confirm with you upon account deactivation. Happy hunting! |
This was a year back but... 24 + SAF + 911 + tax gives me: 150 daytime Unlimited Eve/Wkend @ 5 pm Unlimited Incoming 2500 texts Caller ID Voicemail |
how do you guys do it?? my contract was over like.. 2+ years ago and they kept on calling me and calling me every year.. i told them to piss off and they haven't called me since april (thank god) i think my plan was the unlimited fido to fido (text and call) and unlimited weekends/nights for $25 so i just call them and say... i want to renew my contract, but now i want to you to knock it down to $15 bucks because i have been with fido for 8 years? |
No, don't say that.. Tell them that you've been shopping around with their competitors, and they've offered you a very attractive package. Use some of their competitor's promotion plans and add in like free call display or SAF waived, and ask them what they can offer you as retention. If they can't offer anything better, then hang up and call back some other time. If they give you a counter offer, accept it, or ask for more depending on how good the offer is. Make sure you that you don't sound demanding, and that you're overall a nice person, generally, if you're polite, they are more willing to give you more. |
Not sure if they changed, but I called in for a friend on Fido and they would NOT give me any sort of retentions without me saying I wanted to cancel. With rogers all I had to say was I was looking to resign and wanting to know the best deal i could get + what bell/telus was offering me (you can sweeten it a bit here) I could write a huge story about the biggest Fido douche bag who got into an argument with me saying I was looking for a "deal" and therefore he wouldn't give it to me any sort of retention plan. THis was because i specifically did not say the word "cancel". And I told him later to cancel it and he still didn't want to change. I'm not going to go into the details but it was ridiculous. I've called into Rogers numerous times and they've always been so pleasant. And trust me I'm a nice guy on the phone. The girls are great, the guys are all douchebags |
thanks for the tips will :) |
just called into retention today free nokia 6301 200 anytime minutes 1000 evenings and weekends unlimited incoming unlimited texting call display voicemail 2 year contract after taxes and SAF and that jazz.... 36.34 i settled for it :p i realize it doesn't compare to some of what you guys have but it's more than enough for me. should've asked for evenings to start at 5 instead of 7 damn. lol but yeah, key is to just be nice. and the woman i talked to did ask me what other plans was i looking at from which carrier... so having an idea of that helps ps: she actually looked at my phone usage for my bill to justify what to give as an offer ><" |
hmm.. I've been with fido for over 10 years with out a contract. How should I approach this? |
^ Fuck! Did you read any of my posts? |
Yeah I did no need to explode here. I'll elaborate on my previous post. Should I call in and simply state that I have been shopping around at other competitors plan options? Since I have an account with Fido for the last 10+ years is it expected that they would be more inclined to meet my needs? |
i called them up and the first thing i said was 'hi i was wondering what the procedure was to switch my phone number over to another carrier' they'll then ask you why you looking to switch, what is the carrier offering, and then switch you over to loyalty/retention please do make sure you have some sort of a base plan that you can use to bargain w/ (as mentioned before) also yeah they did check my invoice for last month to negotiate the offer i'd be getting |
Wow.. good thing this came up. My contract just ended a few months ago and Fido has called me back a couple of times to try to get me to sign another contract. This is a very good read and might help me get more out of my Fido Plan. =) |

had to use the dollars, but that's ok since i was planning to transfer the account under my own name (originally under my dad's name), meaning the dollars would've been gone anyways.. i wanted her to transfer the account now, but she told me to wait until i actually had the phone. i actually still had a balance of like 80 bucks left i needed to pay if i wanted the phone, but she said she'd throw it in for free |
oh also another note, i asked what would happen once my 2 year agreement was up, she said that the unlimited txt and voicemail would no longer be available.. did any of you guys who negotiated with retentions get that as well? |
yeah same..my unlimited texting credit and $5 credit for signing 2 yrs would end by the end of contrafct. |
Mine is only for a year! |
damn you will. what was your final plan that you agreed to? |
i mean my credits are only for a year... ur lucky u've gotten for 2.. |
how do i go about using my fido dollars? i have about $100, can i use it towards, say an iphone and then pay the difference? |
