yes i will lose my retention plan but in the end i will be getting a free phone?

So I ordered my phone on the 25th thru retentions. The guy ****ed up apparently when I didn't get a confirmation the next day. I call back, they said there's a 3yr agreement but no evidence of ordering an iphone. The guy said he'll contact that person who ****ed up and have him call me in 24hrs.
No call back...so I gave them another call. Got a nice lady who filed a complaint against that guy, reverse the agreement and put me on her "personal callback list" for when they get more phones.
Sometimes next week...I check my account online and the 3year agreement is STILL there. SO I call back ONCE AGAIN to get that fixed, negotiated a new deal that I will accept once i find an iphone.
TODAY...I went to the Fido store at Brentwood and picked up an iphone. I told the lady I had a plan worked out with retentions and so she called them and they tried to get everything place correctly and I get the plan I wanted and the properly discount price.
It took a while and there was a lot of back and forth between the two so I called back an hour after I left the store to confirm everything was ok. The guy said that the plan is there but they charged me for the full retail price instead of the 159 discount price. He fixed that, gave me a confirmation and case #. All is good.
I get home, check my email....

O_o So apparently I was put on their back order all along yet none of the CSR saw this?

I just called them and I was referring to one of the plans posted earlier and they said "unfortunately we do not have that plan anymore". What should I done there?

Don't call to request for a specific plan from here, call them to use a competitor's plan as leverage to find out what they can OFFER YOU.

What plans from wind or telus could I have used to negotiate.

It's not that difficult dude. I am planning to call Fido today to negotiate a new plan and see what they can offer me.
What i would use as leverage would be Wind's $25 Student Plan and $150 Porting Fee, that should give you plenty of ammo to bargain with them.

What do you mean if that plan is no longer available?
They will offer you SOMETHING then go from there to fine tune what you want. Don't call them and start listing all the features that you want, wait until they offer you something first then go from there.

I didn't really push very hard for this--just mentioned WIND's porting credit. Think I should take this? Or should I push a little harder for, say, 1 GB? (Or 6GB? I saw someone get 6 GB for $45/month... then again I probably won't use it and would rather have the $2.50/month.)
