Any solutions?
I would assume calling fido saying "stop fucking me" would not go over very well....

03aspec 11-22-2008 05:00 PM

im on rogers with the same kind of plan and i pay almost 70 a month on average

racerman88 11-22-2008 05:13 PM

It all depends how long you've been with them and how much you spend per a year in total as well as how much longer you've got in contract with them. Make you sure talk to the retentions department and make sure you talk to a WOMAN! They're much more flexible then men. The male telephone operators just want to make you cry and beg, then offer you nothing, hahahahahahahaha.

92prelude 11-22-2008 06:34 PM

I haven't been with fido for a long time like every here seems to have been.
This coming january I will have one year left with my plan... I'm not sure if i want to renew for anything longer than a year though. In 2009, or 2010, those new cell phone companies are supposed to pop up, some of which will be GSM based... So hopfully they will offer better plans than the long lasting rogers/fido BS.

regardless, coming right up I think I will be giving fido a call and asking for a person in the retentions department. If I man picks up I'll hang up and try again :P

92prelude 11-22-2008 06:35 PM

What do you mean by network calling? Unlimited calling no matter what time of day to any one who is rogers or fido?

I would assume this includes incoming calls?

its unlimited to anyone on the rogers network, rogers and fido cellular, rogers home phone

What is the maximum credit they can give you each month? After looking at some of retention plans here, I feel mine is not that great. I talked to the person to negotiate it for hours.

Normally you can only receive the amount of credit valued at your plan. So if you have a 20 dollar plan, you can have up to 20 dollars worth of credits.

92prelude 11-23-2008 06:59 PM

My unlimited incoming (as long as I'm in my local area and I can recieve calls world wide), unlmited after 7, and unlimited fido to fido/rogers seems just as good as the network calling. I would rather go for a cheaper bill :P

would someone like to post an example of a conversation for the retention plan?
So i'll know how to fight those bad boys when i call em up.

dc02 12-30-2008 04:24 PM

I just got a retention plan today.

200 daytime minutes
Unlimited Weekend / Evening
Fido to Fido
Call Display
Voice Message
2500 Text Msg

$25 + tax.

I just said I saw a better plan from another service provider and asked if they can give me something better. They asked me what the other provider is giving me and I just made some numbers up and said after call display and text message, it was a couple dollars cheaper than my fido plan.
Overall I'm pretty happy about this plan cause it's $17 cheaper than the one I've been paying and I'm getting a lot more.

^xtacy777,

what time does your evening start?

I got my retention over a year ago for a 2 year term for approximately the same amount but I had the SAF to pay on top. Looking at the recent plans, they are a lot better esp. with the no SAF charges. Has anyone tried calling the Retention depart. while on a retention contract (I have about 9 to 10 months left) to try to renew a better retention plan? If so, what are the chances of them upgrading your plan?

ChiGGs 01-02-2009 06:12 PM

just called in..and the guy offered me this when I asked for a better deal, the plan looks like the same plan everyone else has been getting,

200 daytime
Unlimited evenings/weekends at 5pm
Unlimited incoming
Fido-to-fido
Free Caller ID/Voicemail/ 2500 texts
2 year contract
for 25 bucks + tax

They are offering me an iPhone for $249 with no data plan...

I still have 11 months left on my old retention plan and it would cost $25 to buyout my contract if i get the iphone or 160 if i get the samsung jack but the jack would be free if i buyout....i'm thinkin of calling in again next week and come out with a better counteroffer from Telus...

ChiGGs 01-09-2009 11:06 PM

Questions for anyone that works for Fido or have been keeping up with the latest news...I was on hofo the other day, and some apparent insider mentioned something about changes happening in March of this year...changes that won't be good

I'm paying $40-45 with no SAF
have the value pack for $20
(2500 txt, caller id, voicemail, etc)

So about $65 + taxes

same here man, ive called a couple of times, and they're like sorry we can't do anything for you

im paying roughly 70including taxes and im going to jump ship soon.

SkunkWorks 01-11-2009 12:21 AM

Hold up, what phone number are you guys calling for their retention department?

I gave up after being on hold for an hour after the 9823492834092384 different options on their 1-800 FIDO whatever number.

ChiGGs 01-11-2009 04:00 PM

^ 1-866-279-3436 they're closed today though.

Thanks. My contract is ending this week so lets see what they got...

4PPLE 01-11-2009 10:29 PM

You know you don't have to wait until your contract ends to call, if you're within a month you still can try...

by the way, deactivation line has more power...so i'd say call deactivation line instead

SkunkWorks 01-12-2009 10:05 AM

Cool. Just got off the phone with them. Fairly generic 'retention' plan but its eons better than what I had and what I need.

200 daytime
Ultd. evenings/weekends
2500 text
Fido to Fido
Voicemail
Caller ID

$25 plus tax, no SAF or 911

And I didn't even have to hold. :)

carsncars 01-12-2009 11:00 AM

Mine is pretty similar to what others have...

200 minutes
Unlimited evenings/weekends
Unlimited text
Voicemail (but had them deactivate this)
Caller ID

$25+tax, no SAF/e911 fee

Basically their by-the-book $25/mo. plan plus 100 minutes and free CID. But I'm happy because this isn't even a "retention", really... I'm a new activation coming off Rogers. They waived the early contract termination fee, and new activation fee.

So you just switched from Rogers to Fido and called up their retention # and they gave you that?!
