I called them after considering switching to wind for the Holiday plan. The retentions rep I had was pretty arrogant and basically offered me a plan that was $90/mo a full $50 more than WIND's plan and well above my current retentions plan. After I asked about getting put on the non-zoned city fido the rep said I would pay more to cancel and I would lose credits. I will try and call back tomorrow and see what they say before I make my final decision. It looks like they are using scare tactics now telling you that the signal will fail and you will be crawling back to them.

racerman88 01-08-2011 10:54 AM

I read on Howardforums that Fido retentions is not being very nice now. What kind of results are ppl having now?

Kamui712 01-08-2011 05:45 PM

If you spend most of your time in the lower mainland your reception with WIND/Mobilicity will be fine. Mobilicity reception wasn't as strong back in Nov when I was with them, but they just started and didn't have as many towers as wind, I don't know about right now.

I don't notice any difference in reception with WIND... fido is bs'ing you.

internet speed seems the same as well. Cancelling and porting over was the best move I made.

I got this plan in October or November when I told them im thinking bout switching to Wind when they had their student special for 25$ for everytihng unlimited:

Unlimited Local Minutes
2500 Texts
Voicemail and Call display

all for 35$ / month

Is that good? I dont use Data at all cuz i have a shit phone.
I do have a problem too now that I dont call at all cuz im travelling and im just only texting...and im paying 35$ a month. What should I do?

Oh yes, and I only have 2 more months with Fido till my contract is up but I will still be travelling then so I dont know what to do after either...

racerman88 01-11-2011 09:36 PM

Sounds decent. Similar offer to what they gave my friend.
2500 texts is quite a bit. More than enough for me at least

Call to cancel when your contract ends

25$ tax in should get you (if u just wanna txt, w/o needing unlmted local)

200 daytime
eve week & 5
fido 2 fido
CID, VM
2500 txt

its a bundle deal.. so i dont know how a CSR would seperate the bundle since u only text

realistically i could see them knocking the plan u have now to like maybe 25 before tax if you know how to bargain

Bargain... unfortunately my asian specialty doesnt kick in there.. :/
Ive called them a coupla times tellin them the situation and they told me to go for the 15$ plan and add unlimited text for 10$ which means gives me 25$ which isnt far from my 35$ pretty good plan.

I was thinking maybe I can tell em that im going to switch to wind since they have unlimited plans for 25$ while im travelling to the "big cities" ...

Eh. so much hassle.

I've got it too, at $17.50 :D

hongy 01-12-2011 06:42 PM

They wouldn't give it to me for 17.50 despite being with them for 6+years

JesseBlue 01-12-2011 06:44 PM

so i called in to fido for the easiest thing for them...just re-new my contract for the same service and same plan...this dj dude kept on insisting that i should pay a little big more...the inner redflagdeal in me wants to keep things as cheap as possible...screw that guy since he just didn't want to give in...what i have will like to keep is the $17.50 plan of
200 daytime
eve week & 5 for 2000mins i tihnk
fido 2 fido
unlimited incoming
CID, VM
100 txt

for roughly $25 all in...he's wanting $25 + tax...i flippin told him that i do not want to add cost when i do not gain anything in service...he said he'll add another 100txt messages on top then i told him that since he's in the giving mood, i'll keep it at 100 and want to pay the exact same price. then he keeps on saying he can't do it...whatta douche.../rant

my question is that can i ask the other 'big 3' to see if they can match what i have?

JesseBlue 01-12-2011 07:14 PM

with 'customer relations' at the moment and just as i thought...this dj character was a douche...i'm going to get the exact same deal as before for the same pricing...with a free phone...

Teh Doucher 01-13-2011 02:08 AM

is the 6gb data deal still around at all?

impreza_scott 01-13-2011 02:39 PM

My phone number is 10+ years old and I was offered the "$45" retention plan... something about unlimited outgoing/incoming call, call display, voice messaging, 2500 texts.

Is that any good? Also I don't have a smartphone atm, but planning on getting one soon... is there a better plan that includes data?

trip 01-13-2011 05:12 PM

i pay:

17.50$

250 mins
vm/cid/ etc etc
evenings at 5
2500 txts

+$30 500 mb data

= 47.50 + tax ... $53.xx

you can probably haggle a bit more for a better retention plan with unlimited text.

im was offered 60$ unlimited in/out calls from anywhere in canada, unlimited texts (from anywhere in canada) to any # in canada and usa, vm, cid, call display, but i have a 20$ monthly credit, so my monthly is just 40$ plus tax

racerman88 01-15-2011 11:17 AM

I find that www.howardforums.com can be helpful. Lots of info to help you. I did some of my research there and on here to get some questions answered before I called in.

JesseBlue 01-15-2011 06:35 PM

to me if you're cheap (i know i am), redflag is the place to be

Nismo200SX 01-15-2011 10:29 PM

The best renegotiated retention plan i got is

$50 Unlimited Talk & Text North America (while in canada of course)
$7CID
$10 100mb Flex Data
- $15 in credits
Total before tax $52

the rep let me keep my credits. IF they do take my credits away I'm cancelling on the spot and going to wind or mobi.

I just got that plan from Fido recently but only paid $35 instead. Still I only used it for a few months then switched back to Rogers.

JesseBlue 01-16-2011 12:26 PM

hmm...what are the chances of moving to rogers with the same plan as what you already have with fido (retentions deal)? Any one done thing before?

willystyle 01-16-2011 02:36 PM

^ It can't be done.

Doesn't work that way. Even though Fido is part of Rogers, they're totally separate.

Santofu 01-16-2011 06:34 PM

Can I join rentention if I don't have a contract? I just want to get a slightly cheaper than my currently plan.
