So I called retentions to see if they could offer me anything better, but they couldn't.

Looks like I am gonna switch to WIND/Mobilicity because of the unlimited data.

How are WIND/Mobilicity promotional offers right now?

Kamui712 05-05-2011 06:40 PM

^

mobilicity has a 35$ unlimited plan. not sure about wind though, check their websites.

Hows the customer service at Fido? I found it was the worst in my last 2 years, when I called into see if they could get me a better plan (like wind/mobilicity) they basically told me to get lost.

Wind and mobilicity on the other hand, I've had great customer service =)

crazyazn 05-05-2011 10:21 PM

I heard mobilicity's anniversary is coming in May...? So I guess there should be better plans coming...

And I found out my phone is not compatiable with WIND/Mobi 3g....FUUUUU

crazyazn 05-06-2011 06:40 PM

Anyone have any phone recommendations for use with WIND/Mobi? Currently have Moto Milestone and I'm thinking of getting a Nexus One...

Might as well shell out extra cash for the Nexus S.

Been in Fido contract since 2008
Contract ends Sept, 2011.
--------------------------------------
Currently using a $15 plan.
-50 min.
-50 sms
-$7 Caller ID

Total $22 + tax.
(Usually end up to be $30~35more because of overtexting and minutes)
----------------------------------------
I'm planning to get Data for my phone too.

Ideal Plan:
-$25
-200 Daytime
-Caller ID
-At least 250 SMS
$10 Data (flex data)
-100mb
(Dont mind signing a contract for a new phone)
----------------------------------------

My question is:
-Good time to call now?
-Would I be able to get the flex data plan? (Should I even mention the flex data plan when calling?)

I was in your situation a few months ago and successfully negotiated the following for $27.50+tax per month:

200 Daytime
Unlimited Weekends/Evenings starting at 5pm
2500 texts
Caller Display, Voice Mail
Flex Data

When I called, I told them that my contract was almost up and considered switching to Wind as they had a deal back then. They asked me what Wind's plan was and I told them, they offered me with similar options but a bit more expensive. I then told them that although that sounds like a good deal, I didn't really need all those options and began highlighting what I wanted: "Around 250 minutes, a decent amount of text as I found myself texting much more, CID, and data".

They offered what I had written above, except data was the 500gb option. I then told them that I didn't need that much as I was new to data and just wanted to try it out...see how much I need per month. He then gave me the flex data with the total price of 32.50 a month (with a $5 credit), unwilling to take it down to 27.50.

Just be nice with them, don't mention the specific options.

I have the same thing but with unlimited Fido2Fido, enhanced voicemail and 50 bonus minutes.

Simplex123 05-15-2011 08:14 PM

This is my plan right now for $40.50 + HST:

200 daytime minutes
Unlimited E/W @5
Fido to Fido To Rogers/Home phone
500mb BlackBerry data, unlimited text, picture/video msg, CID, VVM

I negotiated this with retentions last August. Do you guys think I would be able to call back anytime soon for a plan with more data and then maybe add BlackBerry on it later? 6GB would be desirable but 1/2 is fine as well.

Thats what I want.
Thanks for the tips!

Howd I know if I'm ableto get any credits?
Plus did you get a phone for that if you signed 3 years?

I really dont mind signing 3 years for a phone, so I can sell it and add the funds toward the other phone I want.

Credits is through negotiating...i negotiated for 2x $5 credit towards my plan by saying that I had been a customer for over 7 years and I'm a poor student :D
Mind you, not all the CSR's may give you the credits. If they don't offer you what you want in the first try, tell them you want to think about it and call them another day. My second try got me the second $5 credit. However, don't call them too much as they may flag you.

I bought myself an unlocked HTC Legend so telling them I didn't need the Iphone may have helped in my negotiating. Also, I said I was willing to sign a 3 year contract, but the CSR just signed me up for 2 years :)

Google "fido retention plan redflagdeals" and you should be able to find a thread regarding all the available options! It definitely helped me :)

hongy 05-16-2011 09:49 PM

Okay so I'm currently off contract, my old plan was $20 a month and I got
200 daytime minutes
2500 txt
early evenings at 5
unlimited fido to fido
cid/vm
Now my phone just broke and I was wondering how much do you guys think I'll be able to get the nexus s for if I only signed up for a 2 year without data. I'm not expecting it to be cheap but do you guys know if they'll give it to me for slightly cheaper?

Beantang 06-10-2011 12:38 AM

Just listing what i got. Might not be the best deal but it's good enough for what i need.

200 daytime minutes
free evenings and weekends starting at 5pm
unlimited incoming calls
unlimited texting
call display, voice mail, whocalled

social networking and BBM

All for $45 before tax. Retentions said i could add 500mb browsing for $5 but i didnt do it.
I think I might call them back just to add it. I was being cheap at the time.

Just got off the phone with this, is this any good?? (Victoria, BC):

Blacberry curve 3g w/gps
- $45
- 200 mins
- unlimited evenings after 5pm/weekends
- unlimited incoming
- unlimited text
- bbm
- voice mail
- call display

with 500mb data it would be $55/month; I don't really need data. Can I still use the gps if I don't have data? being gps doesn't need data to work, but knowing phone companies they'll f us over that way

That's not much of a retention plan seeing how $35 is giving you unlimited minutes and messages. Perhaps it's not available in your area.

I'm pretty sure the blackberry uses A-GPS which requires an internet connection.

SkippyLang 06-23-2011 10:55 AM

My plan ends at the end of August and Fido hasn't called me to renew my plan. When do they start harassing you?

Not really racist! 06-23-2011 10:26 PM

^ they don't

6insomnia9 06-23-2011 10:45 PM

They harassed me for a bit, but stopped now..

I wonder what kind of offers they have since my contract is up in September..

Hmm.

Mizter 06-27-2011 06:17 AM

I was with retentions a few days ago and got this plan. Wondering if anyone could chime in and see if I can squeeze some more out of them.

200 daytime minutes
Unlimited incoming, E/W starting at 5pm
CD, VM
Unlimited Canadian/international texting
Unlimited Canadian MMS
500mb data

And a $15 option for unlimited Canadian long distance

Right now, the plan is $50 +HST without the LD minutes and $65 + HST with LD minutes. I was hoping to get the plan (w/o LD) below $50 or get more data paying around the same price.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

willystyle 06-30-2011 11:29 AM

Current Plan:

200 min
Unlimited E/W after 5pm
Call Display/Voicemail
Unlimited SMS/MMS
500MB Data

$47.50

....Think I can get 6GB for the same price?

mako 06-30-2011 12:01 PM

^
it's possible

SkippyLang 07-26-2011 11:52 AM

Update: retention plan they offered me, good deal?

$17.50
200 minutes
Unlimited E/W after 5pm
Call Display/Voicemail
Unlimited SMS

What is flex data, and can I add it on later myself or is it part of a deal that Fido can make for me?

This looks like a nice retention plan and exactly what i'm looking for.
Did you called the retention number at 1-866-279-3436 ?

-| TIRAMISU |- 07-29-2011 01:20 PM

Ok here is an update on the best retention plan I've negotiated with 2yr-contract:

200 Minutes
Unlimited E/W after 5pm
Call Display/Voicemail
100 SMS

$23.50/month

It's actually not a bad offer, but considering what the other competitors are currently offering on their plans and promo, it's still not good enough to retain me as their cust
