Revive, apparently the agent that set you up that plan is under review for giving out 'illegal plans' according to the fido customer relations rep i spoke to today. i asked for the plan that you received and she said it would impossible to give out that plan because they are told to no longer modify the unlimited calling plans. however modifying the plan is do-able, but most reps don't want to lose their jobs to help you save a few bucks.

assuming i would be billed as a loyalty customer, if they were to compile a plan like that it would be $74 before taxes and credits.

I called them yesterday and I got for my brother:
200 outgoing minutes
unlimited incoming
unlimited minutes from 5pm-7am
unlimited text messages to anywhere in the world
caller ID
$28

and for myself, + $5 for email, bbm, instant messaging.

however, i cant seem to get the email to work. i called them several times and everything seems to be working on their end. They say it might be my phone cuz im using an unlocked rogers 9700.

anyone wanna help me? since this morning, ive been able to receive 2 random emails (not anywhere near the time they were sent though) and completely unable to compose any. i get this message: you are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. if you want to use this application, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan.

oh. okay well i was on the city fido $35. + free bbm + caller ID. and my brother was on the $25 plan and i was able to get him to leech off my caller ID for free.

so since school started and i figured i wouldnt need unlimited calling, i called them and the new fido answers had an option to go straight to retention or something. anyways i was just asked if they had any cheap retention plans available and they asked me what would be the requirements and i told them that i'd need caller ID, unlimited text for sure. and around 100-200 minutes would be fine. so they gave me the 28$ plan that i mentioned earlier. then i asked if they could do anything about blackberry add ons since now that i am going down to a $28 plan, the free bbm would no longer be applicable. they offered me email, bbm, instant message for $5 or if i'd want just general internet (500mb of data) they'd do it for me for $10.

i think one of the things that helped was that my account had 2 numbers and i offered to get it for both numbers if they'd give me a good one LOL

edit: So I decided to just take off the bb add ons and now im at:

200 daytime mins
unlimited incoming
unlimited E/W from 5pm-7am
unlimited text worldwide
caller ID

$23

I got my plan by talking to the manager (one up on customer relations). They kind of screwed up, promising me a plan for a $50, but then a couple of months after I was getting charged $250+ for about two months. When I called, customer relations couldn't do anything about it (after two hours on the phone). I had to call them again the next day (another hour and half), and talk to the manager. With some negotiating, and comprising, I was able to get it for $54 thru the manager.

oh..hang on..what are government regulated fees? LOL i thought they were one of those stupid SAF/911 etc stuff

oh and yea. for my plan, i pretty much have the advertised $30 plan with a $10 credit + the $7 caller ID add on with a $4 credit.
i did remember them mentioning that i'd last an x amount of years but i don't really remember cuz i was just gonna call back in a month or two, or maybe even tomorrow, and ask for an even better plan. yes, im hooked to the "retention game"

I didn't even know they could do "illegal plans" until one of my friends told me Rogers was doing it as well.

you can't call back so often. they put a note on your account every time you call in and ask for things. however, dont let this stop you.........do let us know if you got a better plan.

I just called Fido, and they said they can't offer me a better deal on my existing plan without renewal. I am done with them, gonna port to Mobilicity in a few days for their $25 BTS plan.

EDIT: Been with them for 7 years.

I'm not sure if you called them before or anything, but personally I would feel a bit apprehensive with throwing away 7 years of "reputation" without calling back and talking to a different rep.

Then again, if you haven't had any breaks with Fido, good on you for switching

Well, I guess you could say I am bias, and that I had intentions of switching from the get-go.
