To an extent, they give you an offer and you negotiate to your liking.

For example when I spoke to fido.

150 minutes 50 bonus = 200 minutes
eve weekends at 5
unlimited incoming
cid vm
unlimited international txt
unlimited MMS
6GB data

66 plus tax

I said my friend got a better plan that is cheaper and would be happy with that plan.

250 minutes and all that shit, she offered that plan for 66 plus tax

I said still not happy because friend paying 61 with a 5 dollar credit.

Boom got it

61 plus tax for the plan. Told her to note in the account because doing Hardware upgrade. Went to apple and got it.

TRDood 09-22-2012 09:31 PM

$57

200 mins e/wk at 7
2500 sms
Unlimited LD Canada
Caller ID VM
Fido2fido

New 3 year with $179 iphone 5 price.
$200 ECF knocked down to $80

Do you think it's still possible to get that $15 plan? I have the exact same things as you listed for my retention plan except i'm paying $27.50 before tax :okay:

that plan is actually $25, but they gave me free cid/vm and and $10montly credit.

I'm pretty sure its still availabe, this was about 2 years ago

gamzerz 09-26-2012 09:05 PM

Is the text and cid/vm called the value pack? Last time i talked to them, she wouldn't budge at all and actually recommended me something even more expensive == fail csr. What did you use as leverage when negotiating?

shenmecar 09-26-2012 09:36 PM

that value pack with 2500 txt/cid/vm is no longer available. i think.

Yeah i don't think it's available, but i have it atm. I don't even know how long i've been on this plan for, but probably atleast 2-3 years. BTW what does a grandfathered plan mean? I heard people talking about it and something about signing contracts with it is very good.

Ikkaku 09-26-2012 11:38 PM

grandfathered plans are usually plans that are of really good value, in which the company no longer offers. Most of the time, people extend their contracts so they can keep said plan, otherwise the company would not honour (or would modify your plan) which forces you to go with their newer plans.

I think a good example was the old cityfido unlimited plan that had no zone restrictions.

gamzerz 09-27-2012 09:24 PM

Do you guys think i will be able to get some credits if i sign a two year contract using the $40 all-in-one plan? I was thinking of getting that if i can get it for $30/35 per month and a galaxy nexus/htc one s with two year contract.

I'll definitely extend my contract then since I have a killer plan

Oh wow, looks like WIND is really hitting them where it hurts. They are getting better, moving in the right direction, but still crap compared to WIND's plans.

BigTrollFace 09-28-2012 12:04 PM

I called retentions to get that plan but got a better one

$45 + Tax
unl talk text international text video and picture message
cid vm

no data

tiger_handheld 09-29-2012 11:09 AM

when you guys upgrade, do you guys pay a $25 "admin fee"?

Trying to buy a cheap samsung for $75 (no contract) and they want to charge me $25

Alatar 09-29-2012 11:24 AM

Should just be able to buy at a store if that's the case and don't have them 'activate' it on your account. Just pop your sim card in later. Even better if it comes in a Prepaid package.

However, it's still listed on their website.

Value Packs | Add-Ons | Shop | Fido.ca

So maybe they still have it?

If your buying a phone out, they shouldn't charge you an admin fee unless it was a shady dealer or something
Try calling in and ordering it, should arrive pretty quick

Signed a 2 year through retentions

They were offering their all in one for 40 dollars. Best I could get from 2 different calls was 35 before tax.

Includes:
150 mins, free after 5/weekends
Caller id and voicemail
250mb data
Unlimited text + picture msging
Free hup + first month

There's some junk about canada wide calling. Does that mean my above applies if I call long distance? (Ie I call to ontario at 8am monday morning, does it just use my 150 mins?)

shenmecar 10-01-2012 12:21 PM

Yup, thats what canada wide minutes means.

I got offered the same. They closed before i could call back and sign it though. Wonder if they will still let me get it now that the promotion is over...What plan were u using before? I know someone who got offered that plan for $30/month and got 200 minutes. Don't forget that you're losing per-second billing because all new plans go by the minute.
I wanted the $30/month i even threatened to give notice of cancellation haha but that was the "best he could do" which was bull because he said the system wouldn't let him give the extra 50 minutes but i was offered 50 minutes a day before talking to him but no credit.
