planning to call fido tomorrow and try to get myself an iphone 6 since they don't have the note 4

my plan : Plan
$ 55 Max Plan - 200 weekday minutes (7am to 5pm) - Unlimited Eve/Wknd minutes (Evenings Starting at 5pm) - Unlimited incoming calls - Unlimited text messages from Canada to Canadian, U.S. and international wireless numbers - 1 GB of Data - Unlimited Circle Calling - Call Waiting - Conference Call

any tips on what to say to get a good one? lol
i literally go over my data all of the time so i end up paying extra $20.. bill comes to at least 90 dollars every month which is pretty annoying. my contracted ended not long ago too. i don't even have voice mail wtf !!

Ludepower 12-21-2014 07:56 PM

You should choose a plan in which you dont worry about going over.
The big 3 offer for around $80 that should fit your needs.
At that price its best to buy the phone unlock and shop around for the best deal

guurl 12-21-2014 09:52 PM

I really don't want to pay any more than 70 knowing that others are getting more data for the same as how ever much I'm paying for right now lol

Gucci Mane 12-21-2014 09:57 PM

get the $55 koodoo saskatchewan/manitoba plan

DJ Milk 12-22-2014 12:32 AM

Don't you have to sign up for a minimum $80 plan to get iPhone 6?

Groot 12-23-2014 09:33 AM

Do you just go to a koodo store and say I want the $55 sask/Manitoba plan?

1. If you are NOT a Koodo customer, simply go to a Koodo dealer and tell them that you are moving/getting a job/going to school to Saskatoon/Winnipeg (wherever) and you're here to activate a new line for your unlocked phone (iphone, android, whatever) for that particular city.
2. Tell them that you'd like the $55 Canada Wide promo plan, as it will work for you when you COME BACK HOME (convenience of being canada wide.. you get to keep your Saskatoon/Winnipeg number without paying long distance!!).
3. Give them your real address (So if you live in toronto or wherever, give them the REAL address where you live) and say that you'll update the contact info online later.
4. Pay the $9.99 for your sim card, and just casually take the sim card home. Don't activate it in your phone.
5. Set up your Koodo Online Self Serve Portal at home.. (the self service portal that manages your billing online.. etc)
6. Wait a few hours so your new number ripples through the network.... and port your original phone number (for example, your toronto number) on TOP of your Saskatoon/Winnipeg number.
7. 15-20 minutes later, your Saskatoon/Winnipeg number is gone, and you now have your Toronto number with the amazing $55 plan!!!! Hooray!!

For porting:

1. Make sure your phone number is ACTIVE, NOT suspended, terminated, cancelled, carrying a balance(if its a service like wind or mobilicity) or anything. Otherwise, it will mess up the port, and cost you more money in fees.
2. Make sure the account owner of your phone number is the SAME account owner as the koodo account you're porting to.
3. Get the pin number to your original carrier's account RIGHT, or it will stop the port from working.
4. Have your original carrier's account number ready.
Good luck.
TIP: If you are planning to purchase a cellphone along with the plan, do so when you sign up before porting your number

If your plan is already set as a "max plan" you should be able to get an iphone 6 with the same plan. For example if someone was on a $60 Smart Plan and wanted to do a HUP, you would have to change to a "Max Plan". It seems like fido set up your plan so you are able to switch to an iPhone 6 for that subsidized price on a two year term.

guurl 12-23-2014 12:34 PM

Ugh, I hate my max plan. I always go over my data, minutes and I don't even have voicemail which I need for work. I guess I'm just gonna have to ditch Fido and open up a new account elsewhere since my contract is already over. Does anybody have an account theyd like to transfer over to me =] lol

spoon.ek9 12-29-2014 04:41 PM

I was just offered 6gb on a max plan for long time Fido users at $65/month. Since I have my own phone, a contract isn't necessary but I still have the option of upgrading to a newer phone any time down the road with a good discount plus my Fido dollars. Only shitty thing is he wasn't able to add in call display and voicemail, that's a $6 add-on package so he gave me first three months of that for free :/

Previous contract had 500mb at $30 plus $30 in minutes with $10 credits each month.

All the new plans now are pretty shitty. No way I am signing their new plans. Keeping my old plan as long as I can.

Slifer 12-29-2014 09:05 PM

I still have their old plan till April 2015. Any idea what happens when the contract ends? Do I get to keep my old plan on a month to month basis as long as I don't sign a new contract?

spoon.ek9 12-30-2014 09:57 AM

yes, as far as i understand your contract just becomes month to month. it's much better for you to buy your own phone at full cost and continue to keep your plan if you are satisfied with it.

I really wish I had taken the $55 6gb plan I was offered 3 years ago lol.. oh well. Maybe I'll cancel the call display/voicemail and keep my bill at $65/month :/

vash13 12-30-2014 09:59 AM

I was told that if you had credits with your contract they would expire at the end of your term. Is this true as well?

im on month-to-month and still earn fido$$

vash13 12-30-2014 10:37 AM

I mean a credit month to month that gives you a discount on your monthly plan not fido dollars.

You are right, so you have to watch out when the term ends.
One of my line had -$5 for voice and -$5 for data, when the term ended i thought i would just continue to pay the same amount month to month without renewal, but i found out 6 month later it went up $10 each month because the credit expired.

you have to re-negotiate for the credits again when renewal, but through retention all over again,

hope this helps

it took you 6 months to figure out you were being billed a different amount? :suspicious:

racerman88 01-01-2015 10:30 AM

Call me paranoid, but I check my billing monthly just to be safe.
Plus it is best to start negotiating at least 6 months before your contract expires b/c you know it will be a long process.

kkttsang 01-01-2015 03:04 PM

Does anyone know if fido is getting new phones. My contract is over in may hoping to get nexus 6 if fido will carry it. Right the only phone I would get is the s5. Their selection is limited right now

spoon.ek9 01-01-2015 08:45 PM

Fido's phone selection always blows lol. I haven't bothered getting a phone through them for 4 years now. Easiest thing to do is call Fido and ask when/if the Nexus 6 will added to their list.

bobbinka: I've called early before and they've told me there's not much use in calling so early. Maybe we've had different experiences. Negotiating my deal this time around took one 5-minute phone call.

Tr1ll 01-08-2015 08:56 AM

Thought I would have gotten a call from Fido Retentions or something by now considering that my contract ends on the 13th. Here is what I have now though, I might just hold off on resigning for now because there aren't any phones that are that appealing to me from Fido since I just got the G3 last summer.

$ 25 Unlimited Evening and Week-Ends Plan - 100 weeday minutes (8 am to 7 pm) - Unlimited Eve/Wknd minutes (Evenings starting at 7 pm) - Unlimited text messages from Canada to Canadian wireless numbers - Unlimited Circle Calling - Call Waiting - Conference Call

$30 6GB iPhone data

$7 Caller ID

spoon.ek9 01-09-2015 10:15 PM

keep your current plan, pay for a phone on your own. you'll never get an offer better than what you currently have.

Amuse 04-07-2015 08:54 PM

Fido's new plans updated today. The new plans are not necessarily better lol
