What was your previous plan? What was your strategy?

I told them that Telus was offering me the following (made it up):

- 350 anytime minutes
- 2500 txt
- voicemail
- called id
- 500 mb
- free evening/weekends after 5 pm
- no saf
- no 911 fee

All that for "just over 70 bucks a month"

And she said that she could match it or do better. I then proceeded to ask about my Fido Dollars and she said that I didn't have any. I bitched at her saying that I have a Fido Rewards card that states on the back that the bearer of the card is a participant of the Rewards program. She said that I denied the program back in 2005. I told her what is the benefit for me for denying the program? She says, "Nothing". So I asked her what she's gonna do and credits me with 4x.xx bucks...great. I should have at least 140 bucks in Fido dollars. I asked if I can use the Fido dollars toward a 3G or 3GS and she says no, so I asked her for a plan similar to the Telus plan stated above minus the data plan.

I ended up with what I got and I can add a data plan to it whenever I want.

She originally offered me unlimited incoming calls but asked if I can have unlimited Fido/Fido and Fido/Rogers instead and she said no problem. I also told her that I'm a student and gave her a budget and she can work out a plan around that.

I think that's the standard retention plan for fido now. Well it was when I renewed a couple of months ago. But it's still a good deal.

Would you be able to get a good plan or have any bargaining power if you're on pay-as-you-go but still with Fido?

Don't think those'll count as they aren't contracts.

Sorry.

Negotiated a plan a couple of months ago for the IPhone 3G S 32GB Black. Took about a week and a half for me to sign the contract but it was worth it. I started out by talking to a normal sales rep who offered me about the same plan for $70, than i threatened to quit and got transferred to retentions and was offered $55, than I finally got it down to $48 after a few days (including everything except tax).

200 min per second
Unlimited Incoming
Unlimited Evenings/Weekend @ 7
Fido to Fido
2500 Text
Enhanced Voice Mail
Call Display/Who Called (not working on my IPhone for some reason)
No SAF/911
6GB (could not negotiate anything off for that)

Plus I got to use all my Fido dollers for the 3G S so I got my IPhone for $200 in the end.

So basically I paid $18 for my plan + 30 for data. I have 24dollers in credits in each month. I think I could have gotten evenings @ 5 but oh well.

I made about 5-6 calls in total, it's about finding the right rep, being courteous and being persistent.

How long do you need to stick to fido for in order to ask for retention? I'm thinking of signing a contract with fido for probably 3yrs....

Mine is a bit complicated. Because of the fact that I started negotiating when they had their promotion going on, even though if it had passed, I still got access to the 6GB plan since that was what they initially offered me.

Hey guys, so I have a 25$ student plan from Rogers. Started September 5th, 2008 signed on a 3 year contract which ends on September 5th, 2011... but before that I was signed onto a family plan for about 2years or so. But my father has been with rogers for a long time (probably 7-8 years) and he hasn't been offered anything either..

It comes with:
-My10 (unlimited texting and calling)
-Early evenings from 6 pm, group calling, and call waiting
-And I paid 8$ for call display

So I am paying 25$ + 8$ for call display + SAF/government whatever fee + tax which ends up close to 45 - 50$ per month!!

I was just wondering what I could get if I called the Retention Centre for Rogers and how I could explain my current situation to get a better plan with a better rate!

Anyone help??? TIA

i know this doesnt totally belong here, but i didnt want to make a new thread just for this.
i was wondering, i have about a year and a half left on my contract. i remember back in the days when the iphone came out, rogers and fido would let you switch between each other without really having a early cancellation fee. can you still get around this? i have the 3g, i want the new bold when its out. you used to be able to do this but not sure if u can anymore.

I threatened to quit Rogers and got this deal, which is basically just my current plan with the price chopped.
The rep I got wouldn't hook up unlimited evenings/weekends @ 6pm -_-

200 weekday mins
Unlimited evening/weekend 9pm
Unlimited picture/video messaging or something?
Unlimited text
My5 (half my monthly usage is long distance calls)
500 MB Data
Caller ID
Enhanced Voicemail

$70.83 w/ taxes in

Should i call again, or is this fair?
