i would say thats good since you need the my5. if it didnt include that, your plan would be pretty average |
I just signed on with Fido again... and all i'm paying is $40 (cityfido) plus tax. but it also includes caller display/2500txt/voicemail i'm debating if i should get a BB. i really like the onyx(bb 9700) but only rogers & telus & bell is offering it. i think there is only 2 approach to this 1) buy the phone unlock 2) leave my cityfido and sign onto rogers and get the bb onyx what should i do????? |

100 bonus minutes 200 wkday minutes unlimited eves wknd at 6pm unlimited network rogers/fido 500 MB DATA 100 long distance canada 2500 call fwd voicemail 2500 text caller id/ call waiting/ call fwd/conference calling free blackberry bold (just have to pay the activation $35 fee) on a 3 year renewal $48.27 w/ taxes in a month |
I called in to see what I could get and all I got was a punch in the face. I have the old city fido, unlimited anytime for $40 + $11 valuepack calldisplay, name display, enhanced voicemail, 250 txt(no SAF, they call it credited to my account. because of a 1month phone fight I had with customer server when they were terminating city fido sooo many years ago) they tell me if I want to get a phone upgrade at an agreement price I would have to start paying the $6.95 SAF.. WTF!?! I ask them what happens if I cancel? They dont give a shit. not so many options other than just renewing. thinking about grabbing the T715 and getting the unlimited browsing added on since the current Data plans are a rip. If I wanted to get an Iphone I need a data plan min $25 + 6.95SAF my bill would go upto $83 from what I'm currently paying after tax of $58 |

Call again, and just say you saw an offer from Rogers you would like to sign up for and that you would like to cancel. They'll most likely send to retentions and negotiate there. You probably either talked to an asshole or you didn't sound sincere when you wanted to cancel. I had the same plan as you, but I opted out for a new retentions plan. I asked about keeping my cityfido and data etc. and it IS possible to get an iphone without paying SAF and WITH the 3yr agreement price [$499 without 3 yr data agreement i think] You could try: $40 CF $10 loyalty bundle [CID, VM, 2500 txt] $20 for 500mb if not, you can try to get my plan: $17.50 - 200min, unlim Evn/Wknd @5PM $10.00 - 200min -$10.00- credit for extra 200min $10.00 - Unlim Rogers<-->Fido -$10.00- Credit for R<->F $10.00- Loyalty bundle [CID, VM, 2500txt] $25.00- 500mb Data total: $55 with tax, no SAF [they added $2.50 somewhere because they can't credit an amount more than the actually voice plan] with an iphone Good Luck ! |
This is what I got, and I did not threaten to cancel. I think threatening to cancel just makes it harder for the rep. 700 minutes Unl even week at 5 Rogers and fido unlimited call display voicemail unl txt 500 data or BB plan my choice (my choice on what phone to use) Got the iphone 3gs for $70 I can switch unl. rogers fido to unlimited incoming anytime if i want all for $60 |
it's a threat in the sense that there are better offers out there, not to sound like an ass and yell at everyone |
you do not have to threaten to cancel. You can just tell them that there are better offers there and your interested. Pretend you are the one on the other line. You probably wouldn't want to help out a prick threatening to cancel would you? |

I didn't tell him to be a prick ??? and I use to work in a call center, so I obviously know being a prick won't work. The normal customer service rep however doesn't have any power to offer you any sort of retention plan. They can pretty much just offer you what's on the site, with very little leeway. If they determine you ARE sincere in that you wish to cancel or that the account is in risk of being lost to a competitor, they will transfer you to another department with reps trained to negotiate a plan that'll make you stay with their company. |

The rep said if i stick with the iphone and dont give it away the plan I can opt for the 6 gb for the same price. If i go BB ill get the BB plan and 500 data. And the plan is 60 tax in |
my contract ends in sept and is as follows: 100 daytime unlimited evenings/wknds @ 5pm unlimited incoming/fido-fido/fido-rogers caller id/voicemail/unl. txt/call waiting/conf. i pay $60 after tax (SAF) wanting to go BB and add a data package. what do you think i can get out of it? |
is the 25 dollar retention plan available for people that signed monthly contract about 3 months ago? |

Why would Fido give out good plans to people that are on monthly's that cannot be tied up? It doesn't make any sense. Especially since you've only been with them for 3 months. |
250 daytime min fido to fido free unlimited evn and wkn 2500 txt caller ID, Voice Mail no SAF $25 tax included |
went from $16.80 after taxes plan to this, because i had to renew my plan to keep my credits. 200 daytime unlimited evening weekends free fido to fido caller id with name display 2500 txting, voice mail 150mb data no saf 911 renewed with iphone 3gs for $199 - $56 fido dollars = $143 $25 - $10 montly credit + $15 for data = $30+tax = $34.00 |

Hi Bigassbooger, I have been with Rogers since they were Cantel. I have been thinking about going to Fido and possibly with an iPhone. How did you negotiate your plan? I have already cancelled Rogers, BTW. I was at a Fido store and adding up a similar package to yours, it came to more like $75 (but only 350 min, 500MB data add on, 5pm eve, call disp/voice disp). I'd like to ask more questions if you can PM me. |
Just renewed, I was nice to them. 200 daytime UL evening and weekend starting at 5pm UL incoming calls F2F / F2R Caller ID Call Display Who Called Voice Mail 2500 text 150mb Data $42 They gave me $35 fido dollars bonus for renewing + my $70 i already had = free phone. *edit* damn someone else got the same deal as me but they got 500mb instead of 150mb >< |

how did you go about asking them?? did u tell them u compared plans with other cell fone carriers? |
I kept 2 things in mind when I call retentions: 1. They deal with people complaining all day and threatening to quit if they don't get a better deal. 2. They can't give you everything you ask for. On their computer they have options that may or may not be available depending on the month AND the customer. Therefore, they have limited control over what they can give you. Having that in mind, I call in and am polite. I tell them what I have now, what I'd like to have added on or taken away. I don't threaten to leave, since that is a form of aggression and actually works against you. |
I have to say the same thing: having worked at the Telus Mobility Call center before, I wouldn't automatically have sent you to the Retention Queue. The calls are recorded for Q/A and if a customer didn't have the criteria to be sent to the Retention Queue and they were sent there, it works against the CSR on the phone. L&R is supposed to be the last resort to prevent a customer from CHURNing, not a dumping ground for clients that CRS's don't want to deal with. What you SHOULD do, if you REALLY want to talk to L&R, is to say that you have already spoken to L&R, that you were told to call back and bypass the normal queue, and that you want a direct transfer to L&R and don't need a warm transfer. When the CSR says your account doesn't have any notes pertaining to this, tell them that you just got off the phone with them about 5 mins ago, and the L&R person probably hasn't had time to put the notes in. |
i think its time for me to call them i've been on the same plan for over 8 years |
my contract ends in may u guys think i could get a good deal right now? or shud i wait till my contracts over? |
