$15.99/month + initiation fee (which is probably going to be $99)

24/7 gym as well

I'm not looking to get pampered while i workout, but i'd rather the surroundings not look like shit. I just find some places are really not motivating. It doesn't have to be glamorous just as long as it isn't a shit hole (which SC is leaning more towards...from what i've heard about)

Thanks for the link though! i'll probably head there soon to see first hand what it looks like.

Richmond69er 07-05-2009 09:04 AM

^^ SC has a funky as smell to it.

Golds gym is a serious gym with serious equiptment. just look at how many locations they have. when it comes to gym facilities golds is 2nd to none. ive been to the nash center downtown and that i would classify as a "spa" hahaha but the prices reflect that also.

Richmond Golds is an awesome place and pricing is relatively the same as any other gym in richmond. so it comes down to how far away you live from it and how dedicated you are that you'l make that drive to get there.

i think im goign to have to check out golds. It's closer to home too.

Mr.JDM 07-21-2009 11:48 AM

no. the owner of the gym in burnaby is owned by different owner. with your bby pass, you can go to kelowna golds and prince george golds.

imo, even though the owner is a cheap ass, burnaby golds is the best gym. best bang for the buck. i've been to richmond golds, and its not as good. gold's gym burnaby is the only gym (other than pantheon) that has dumbbells that go up to 150lb and most equipment for strength training (if your into hammer strengths machines).. although they do lack alot of stability equipment though. wish they had more fit balls/bosus

but you go to golds to get jacked and look like arnold am i right? ;)

the downtown location cost a bit more but thats where its at... if your into hills type girls

what are the prices now?

Or i should say, is the gym any good? mostly weightlifting.

Phantom_Euro 11-11-2009 10:55 AM

Golds gym is an awsome gym. It's about 42 bucks per month but if people say it's too expensive to go to that gym then that means they are not getting what they are getting at a gym. You really pay for what you get at Golds. The size and amount of new equipment is amazing. And also it's not about just weight lifting. They have tons of classes and fitness trainers if needed and tanning booths. What more can you get. I've only explained a short summary of the gym but you get my point.

azzurro32 12-08-2009 11:18 AM

I visited golds last week. I don't like the contract thing. Also I found the machines are stacked very close to each other. Right now I go to Nash club in Richmond and other then their weights area being small, I love the gym. Even has a pool. Kinda ironic tho that golds has a bball court and Nash doesn't haha.

And ya, the chix are hot at snsc

I have no plans on joining,I just like to do the drop-in thing to check out other gyms.

What are the pros and cons?

azzurro32 12-13-2009 09:24 AM

Pros:
Central location
pool, hot tub, steam room
lots of cardio
free classes
nice equipment
hot chicks

Cons:
missing a few excersize equipment most gyms have
weights area kinda narrow and can get packed
pool only wide enough for 2-4 people
