I'm very excited for this season. Hope it snows tons. This is what I got:

Night Season pass to Cypress
Atomic Hatchet 159
Rome Arsenal bindings
32 Focus Boa boots
bern baker helmet to help save my few braincells

maybe getting new gloves since mine have rips and smell like feet.

Hmm... don't they have the Baker in Pacific Boarder? Well, I got mine online with audio for $80. It's gray though.

The edge card is a discount card that is electronically connected to your credit card, it allows you to get discounted passes for whistler blackcomb anytime out of the year.

They can also give you HUGELY discounted pre purchased tickets for the season as well as the standard discounted passes there after.

If memory serves me correctly, you can get a 1 day [pre purchased ticket] edge card, or a 5 day [pre purchased ticket] edge card.

Take a permanent marker and mark the base edge, the area of the edge that is along side of the running surface/base. What you are doing is making the marker for you to see how much of the edge you are beveling.

Take that file you applied tape to, and put the tape side on the base of the board, that tape has then angled your edge at an aproximate 1-2 degree base bevel.

Run the file along the markered portion of the base and you will see from the metal you remove that you are then beveling the edges.

very simple and very easy to do, plus you still have side edge to use for the harder snow conditions.
Thanks for the info, going to try tonight. Hopefully I wont f up my board.

Wow, I don’t usually post in topics like this, but my hat is off to you Vangruver. 20 years in, that’s kick ass. I think I rode for about 11 before my knees just couldn’t hack it anymore. Doing cliff drops with a duck foot stance, not recommended.

Again, my hats off to you. So many times Ill stop and watch the new videos out, and be amazed at how technical snowboarding is now, how much it has moved forward. Me and a friend were laughing the other day that “Wow, dude, we are old school now.”

Remember Palmer getting tossed out of Japan? Remember Palmers first “boneless”?

Remember when Terje was just some kid that didn’t speak proper English?

Remember When Craig Kelly Ruled?

Remember Dan Donolly, and the fights over judging the first competitions?

Remember Cutting up your free ride board to make a twin tip?

Remember Skybacks?

Remember Neon?

Remember Movies like “upping the ante” or the old “Kemper” Videos? “Board Test!”

I could go on and on. Memories bring a tear to my eye. Keep it up man, one day Ill get a pair and get back up a mountain. Until then, have a great time, and Ill be sitting here staring at my Crystal Ocean and World Industry boards on the wall…..

This posting reminds me of a self note I made to myself a few years back

Quote:
My Journal: Wednesday, November 15, 2006
So let's just take it back a few years, where super stances and baseless bindings were around.

where you bonked everythign in your path,

where you wore ugly ass jester hats, but hey they were cool.

where noah salesnek was ruling the scene.

where craig kelly had conquered every gnarley powderline there is today.

where jamie lynn would be stomping the battle ground known as mt. baker.

where euro carvers were actually around on the hill.

take it back.

if you didnt know about the early 90's you missed out.

where you coudn't snowboard on a hill because skiiers and their uni suits would smack you with their poles.

where the board you rode was the same size as your front door, and actually rode like one.

where sorell's were actually snowboard boots.

when you HAD to put in effort in order to carve a board.

Nothing is wrong with duck stances, its just when you do an extreme duck stance is where the problems and knee pains come into play.

your legs are designed to work together, and when you do an extreme duck stance your inner portion of your knees get stretched too much than they can handle.

It's good for small jumps, and jibbing, but when you throw down HUGE drops or launch yourself off of gnarley tables, THAT's where the problems come into when you get older.

The problem with duck is its really hard on the knees when doing larger hit, cliffs that kind of thing. It tends to push your knees out. For me it caused alot of tendon/muscle damage aparently. I really wanst etream duck, but enough that it caused some issues. Keep in mind I skated for a lt of the time, and probally wasnt to kind on my body for many years.

HA "bonked everything in your path". Love it.

Remeber when I think it was "snowboarder" Magazine had the set of skis that they would clip together to make a board and ride mountians that didnt allow snowboarding? Classic stuff.

Jamie Lynn, wow, havent heard that name in ages. Dont I rember him riding with no gloves at all times of the year? And yes, I had a Noah board. Dude was such a slash dog, but I loved his Pro Models, really nice shapes and flex patterns.

And Im afraid to be the one to tell you this, but those jester hats, they were never cool. HA!

Yup, its pretty cool to be able to say I was around for the real begining of all that. Maybe all this remembering might get my ass up a mountain....

Ill be the old guy doing flat land tricks into the chair line and listening to Face to Face on a walkman.

keep this in mind though.

Its' always the beginning of the year that gets people stir crazy.

I've no worries, because it WILL happen regardless.

Okay, got a new setup this year, however.. didn't finish mounting my new 07/08 Buron Vapour yet. So I'll be riding on my previous board; K2 Nemesis on Ride LX bindings and a pair of Lamar boots. I forget the style of the Lamar but they aren't quite shabby for being 3 years old.

Now for the gear:
Brand spanking new Oakley Custom Crowbars
DC Shell
Special Blend Pants
And new Burton Yeti gloves to keep my hands hotttt
