Harrison Hot Spring in Mid-December, Good idea?

Just for 2 days getaway. Is Dec a good time? I guess the weather will be too cold for any outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, golf or hiking?

Where's a good place to stay?
I heard good things about http://www.harrisonresort.com/

How's the drive up to Harrison? Any good stops in between? If it does snow, how easy is it to get around??

Any comments are welcome

Thanks!!

I was there last year for a small little getaway for New Years eve. It was definitely too cold for anything else but I was just there for tons of sex and the hot springs.

The drive isn't that bad, it took me about an hour and fifteen minutes. Might have been less than that actually and that was in her Protege. It would have been faster and more comfortable in the Lexus. Just make sure you take the pre drive washroom routine and no I don't think there's anywhere really worth stopping.

just so u know.. any other hotel other than harrison hotspring resort don't bother..
the water they use is not hot spring water... not much of a point going there if you aren't going to enjoy hot spring..

I hope the highway hasn't been closed today. Roads are pretty bad out here.

It gets crowded during the summer, but it's not unbearable. The lake is on the cold side, but it's nice to swim in. Just don't swim in the lagoon, it's gross.

It's good in the winter too, because there's a public hot spring pool that's open year round.

It's mostly a place to get away and relax for yourself and your SO in the low season. Some really nice restaurants out there, too, from quaint coffee shops and pizza parlour to high end multi-cultural restaurants. Too bad some are closed this time of year.

Now I feel like going.

Just for the sake of the OP, there is some more info I'll give.

There are 3 main hotels in Harrison. The Executive, the Harrison Beach Hotel, and the Harrison Resort and Spas, which is the best one to pick. It has everything. You pay more, but for that reason.

Here are the links to the other two to at least check them out:

http://www.executivehotels.net/harri...FQsQagodYlCDBw

http://harrisonbeachhotel.com/main/

Harrison Beach is the newest one and probably gives some nice views up top, but again I still think the Harrison Resort is the best. I love their breakfasts at their Lakeside cafe, and the Copper room is pretty posh.

If I talk any more about it, I'll have to ask Harrison to pay me.

I know this is a super old thread but I'd rather just put in here rather than start a new one.
Would you recommend like a group of 6 people going up there for 2, maybe 3 days?
Some of my friends say there's pretty much NOTHING to do.
I got a couple more questions:
Some of you said there are some pretty neat restaurants, which restaurants would you recommend? Any price, any cuisine.
Also, um... is there a Liquor Store up there?... what better way to entertain ourselves when there's nothing else to do?

Besides the beach and park for BBQing, there's not much to do besides walking around looking at a block or two of small shops.

There's a neat german place there, a decent west coast restaurant (http://www.ravensrestaurants.com/), and a bar.

I believe there might be a liquor store in Agassiz (15 min drive south), but not one in Harrison. The bar might have offsales for Beer and Wine.

3 days was already enough in Summer. For winter, don't expect much besides drinking and doing nothing (an orgy, perhaps, if you and your friends are into that).

Funny anecdote, we got hammered one night and decided to have a piggy back race on the gravel trail along the beach. I started off fast, but then went too fast, my legs gave up under me and and I did a full-out faceplant into the jagged gravel with a girl-friend on my back. Couldn't use my hands to break my fall either coz I was carrying her lol.
