It might be a stupid question but how does it (offroad capabillity) compare (or how much better should I ask) to something like Jeep Wangler, Land cruiser?

The SVX? Not well, it's damn near useless. It's been pretty well criticized by journalists in Europe for being everything a Land Rover shouldn't be.

But the Defender is pretty good. It has shorter overhangs than the Land Cruiser/Wrangler, which helps it get places they won't. Then again, the Wrangler and Cruiser have mechanical locking diffs, although the Land Rover traction control makes it easier to go 99% of the same places without locking diffs... so it's really a mixed bag. But when it comes to practicality, they're untouchable. Good on gas, spacious, and adaptable.

thats freaking expensive, 38000 Euros = 62,000 Cad.

62000 for a car thats designed like a matchbox, with not much luxury. I rather get a jeep.

or save up for a G55. =)

It is expensive; but it's also quite rare and built to commemorate the 60th Anniversary. It's not really another model of Defender, more like an extensively modified celebratory version of a top-spec model. You can't compare it to a G55 either; it's built to compete with things like the Hummer H1, not side-exhaust equipped G-wagens.

And yes they are all aluminum. But the frame is steel.

I really can't find an argument for taking the Defender in any trim level over a Land Cruiser 70.

Less adaptable. The Land Rover platform is just that; a platform. You can rivet mounts to the body, gut the back and have anything from a 12 passenger vehicle to a pickup truck bed, or lift is and use it as an ambulance in the Alps.

^ Factory models.

You don't need Land Rover to modify the sheetmetal to turn your Defender 110 from a pickup truck to an ambulance to an expedition van; you can do it in your driveway.

As well, it has better clearance and shorter overhangs, so it requires less modifications to the bumpers. Also, the Land Rover is less prone to rusting, and gets better fuel economy. Comparing brand new models, the new Defender interior is also supposed to be MUCH more comfortable.

I could counter with points such as reliability, parts availibility etc. but each has its good points. I still think the LCs good points far outweigh the advantages of the Defender. Terrorist groups in middle east seem to agree with me

It's no more common nor is it more reliable. In all reality, they're damn near interchangeable.
