what? Tial came out with a new bov this year. If anything HKS has not changed it's design in over a decade. The high pitched 'chirp' is a big turn off. It just sounds ricey IMO.

But it is up to individual taste I suppose. The best BOV functionality wise would probably the synapse but it sounds like ass. As far as best of both worlds go (sound and performance)... I still would go with a Turbosmart BOV or a Tial (especially the new Q bovs)

comes down to:

-personal preference ---how much money you want to blow---is your car in need of a high end race style BOV

You have a skyline right??

I personally ran greddy RS on my GTR, then went and bought a greddy RS Knockoff on ebay, and wow, they look and sound exactly the same.. $250 vs $25... thats your call..

as for HKS SSQ ("personally") i dislike the squeek like you hit a pigeon when it blows off.. have not liked the HKS i have heard on mildly modded skylines.

again thats my personal preference

Greddy type S purple top !!! if you can still find them around ?? they are discontinued.. max boost they can handle is only 25psi but more than enough for everyday street driving.. sexy as hell.. and you can also recirculate/recycle the air that comes out of it and re-route it back into your intake.. or you can get a HKS SSQV sounds alright but you can't recirculate the released air.. due to it's design..

i prefer the sound of the Blitz flutter type. not too sure on the actual model name. its the one with the long fluted trumpet. i think thats what someone was referring to when they said the one that sounds like compressor surge, lol.

I was always under the impression that the fluttering sequential sound was due to the compressor surging? And while I love that sound, it's horrible for the turbo when at high RPM's and while running higher boost.

Turbosmart makes an awesome line of BOV's / Recirc valves of all different types. I've had really good luck with them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Seriously? You like the fluttering? I absolutely hate that sound. Its not necessarily compressor surge. But when the vacuum lines aren't connected properly... I remember one of my vacuum lines popped out. The BOV starting making the flutter. Once the line was connected it went away.

Well I prefer that sound more than the squeal of BOV's like the ones HKS has. I'm not a fan of the loud chirp.

is the BOV only useful if you have turbo?
because I heard some people who dont have turbo or anything and still got BOV for their car.. why? is it cuz they just want the sound?

Blowoff valves are used to prevent compressor surge. Compressor surge is a phenomenon that occurs when lifting off the throttle of a turbocharged car (with a non-existent or faulty bypass valve). When the throttle plate on a turbocharged engine running boost closes, high pressure in the intake system has nowhere to go. It is forced to travel back to the turbocharger in the form of a pressure wave. This results in the wheel rapidly decreasing speed and stalling. The driver will notice a fluttering air sound. Wikipedia.

Making for slower rpm drop and slower acceleration, because the turbo has to start from a stall. The guys who have the BOV sound on a NA car, probably have a kit I have seen on the internet. It's a speaker with a controller hooked to the clutch and every time you shift it makes the pssssshhhht sound. I lmao when I saw it.

I am running a knock off greddy type S and I wouldn't even trade it for the real thing. Works great consistant no flutter sounds better the the real one (no high pitched death sound).... If you can affford to lose $30 plus shipping try it. some of the other knock offs are no good though.
