I was wondering that to. I think if I throw chains on as well they'd be cool.

on acura TL

16" Altimax Arctics 205/60/16 on RSX rims:

had them on last year and they were fantastic although we didn't see much snow action.

My Snowsport 210s from 2 years ago have the snowflake certification, it's right before and after the "Pirelli" font. I have the gen1 Snowsport 240's on the Audi and they are a great Vancouver winter tire. They wear really well, have good dry winter traction and don't have alot of sidewall squirm. Having said that, they are a performance winter tire and the ice/packed snow traction isn't as good as say a Blizzak WS-series tire....but I never had any problems even in the big storm her two years ago. Any set of average winter tires will do if you combine it with safe driving. There's really no need to rush out there, it's not worth harming yourself, your car and worst of all, hurting someone else.

I just finished driving with the 210s in snow for the first time, they're beyond terrible.

I listed them for sale on Craigslist, and I just want the stupid things gone.

took the WRX around coquitlam in the blizzard to test out the altimax arctics... they performed very well, no traction issues with reasonable driving, and no slipping or spinning from a standstill during acceleration... (probably also due to AWD)

will try them out more in deeper snow when I wake up tomorrow

Dude that sucks. What are you getting to replace them? What size?

Great tires, had them on tonight and lots of traction... until I started doing stupid stuff.

AWD is for acceleration

Tires are for stopping.

To really test the tires, get the car up to speed and step on the brake.

Honestly the most useful bit of technology for snow that most recent cars have is EBD. It is like night and day.

Here's a quick test running using the General Altimax Arctic tires going up hill.

No problems at all!

I was driving my Honda Civic.

If all your tires are winter tires then it shouldn't be a problem, just take it easy.

They're even better in the rain, like honestly the dry performance isn't great it doesn't need to also suck in the rain.

FML I was caught in the snow driving home tonight to install the snow tires I picked up at the border this morning, and of COURSE I had to be stuck on my down-to-tread-bars Dunlop Z1 *Spec. I got all the way from Richmond to Marine & Fraser on these tires before I finally got stuck.

So I ended up having to install my Blizzak WS-70's on the street. In the snow. Uphill.

But it all became worth it when I went for my revenge drive after.

Wait, the snow tires were mounted on rims and everything already? Why didn't you install them right away when you realized there was snow instead of driving on your bare tires. Glad you're safe though!
