Its only your emotions that convince you whether or not God exists.
You assume and then you use "logic" to justify. YOU DON'T KNOW.
I'm willing to bet, that most arguments that people are putting forth isn't really their own ideas. Its what they saw in a movie, or what they googled on the net or what they read from a book, or what their atheist professor told them or what their pastor told them. You guys are just repeating these arguments over again and again. in some cases atheists can totally win in some arguments and in other a cases theists can win.
But in the end, you don't know whether or not God exists. | Please. By your own logic, you don't know whether a flying spaghetti monster exists or not.

God in his many forms are all hallucinations, clever fairy tales.
God is just something people made up. These is no god, not one we know about, at least.
Religion is a system of control. This is a fact.

i think in this world there IS a God. Though who this God is, how he/she/it is like will remain unknown. The religions such as buddhism, christianity etc. they do not provide the evidence to " illustrate " God. Therefore i just believe in God, though i am uncertain how he/she/it is.

No creator. Sorry.
Personally, I believe in a driving force in nature. Not a god. If others choose to believe in god, more power to them. It does not concern me or should it concern anyone else what others believe.

The more people debate this, the more of the point people miss IMHO. The more people converse, the more people can learn from each other, at least "agree to disagree."
Debate = one opinion vs another
Converse = sharing opinions without the need for one to win over another

did any of you watch that video i'd posted? if not, i urge you to watch it in it's entirety. if you don't fully understand it the first time, watch it again until you do. from a scientific POV, it concludes that reality is only as we perceive it to be. forgive me if it's old news to some of you, but it's extremely fascinating to me.

Better question:
Does anyone think a divine being thinks you are a bad person for having sex outside of marriage?

If a "Supreme being" created the Human race by themselves, with out sex, why would he put restrictions on what that race can do for recreating?

Ive been waiting for jasons2000 to respond to my thread.
I agree completely with him. Anyone who thinks religion is not around to control us needs to give their head a shake. Then again these people need something to control them as they dont want to experience the truth because they are hypnotized by a fairy tale and probley dont have the brain power to think that all this "faith" could be wrong.

Well, in Christianity it's God thinks sex is holy because it's under the concept of "marriage" which is the special-est bond one can ever have so hence, by extension, it's exclusive to one other person. It's recreation, yes, but to strenghthen that bond. Quote:

Without challenge, it'll never grow, or it'll be proven false. Religion isn't faith, they could be related, but should never be considered one and the same. Religion's messed up, but it can be good too. It's just harder to find a religion that doesn't have one or two messed up things (major things, I should be clear here) about it that don't seem to connect with the faith it supposedly represents.
My two cents, and part of my experience.

religion is actually much like science. we're all just looking for explanations
quite possibly, one day, science and religion will intertwine. and we will realize that amongst the great debate, we were looking at the same thing

Religion is based on making shit up in your head and telling people it's a fact.
The scientific method didn't come from some guy throwing a cup full of bones on the ground and telling you that you need to give him 3 goats and a sack full of pubic hairs for your wife to get pregnant on the next full moon.*
It did come from people challenging what was known as "the truth", passed down in religion. Why did it take the Church something like 400 years to finally admit that the sun did not rotate around the earth?
Also, due to the Church, science was completely fucked for hundreds and hundreds of years. Superstition has plagued, and STILL plagues mankind. There are people on earth right now who live in fear everyday that devils and angels are watching their every move! Can you imagine living your life believing that the devil gave you a cold? That an angel kept you safe when your tired popped on the highway?

People can follow God without following religion, but I don't think a lot of people understand that.
Science IMO has lost some credibility anyhow. It's great but it's not as absolute as I once thought. Like religion, it's also corruptible. Pay a group of researchers enough and they will find ways to give you answers you want to hear. Hell, if I were a muti-billionaire with beverage business venture, with unlimited resources, I could probably pay a bunch of scientists to show evidence that water is actually harmful to you.
