Where do they sell aftermarket rear quarter panels that are already pre-cut?

I have this bad rust spot, that ate away the clip that holds the rear bumper up so I've decided to fork out some money to fix up all the rust.

This is for a 1992 Honda Civic CX Hatchback. :rolleyes:

uh..junkyard will get you brand new pre-cut quarter panels? Or do you mean just cut them out from junkyarded cars?

to replace the whole rear quarter pannel on a 92 civic cx hatchback will cost nearly the total value of a 92 civic cx hatchback.

sooo...should I just get the body shop to cut and re-weld?

I had my rust on the rear quarter on both sides cut and welded with new metal on my 90 Accord. This was for both the part you have rust on and the dog leg near the door jam. I can't remember the price but it was something very reasonable (like $150 a side plus paint). You can't tell it was patched.

A whole new panel from Honda is like $800, and you can sometimes find smaller panels (aftermarket) for $150ish a side.

reluctant to recommend non-oem jobber parts. my manager once had a 94 4dr that he had a fender bender with and fixed it privately using non-oem, and it started rusting after 2 years just like that pic above. i don't know if it was because of poor prep work or what...

I'd source out a complete quarter panel from local junkyard (Import auto recyclers), they do give them out for decent prices. What you'd have to worry about is the prep work after. Key is to find the nicest piece you can find, and ensuring it is treated and prepped properly before it goes on the car.

lots of times, cut and welds are cheaper, however, if done improperlyyou'd have rust building up again in a couple years in the same spot.

I have this autobody shop doing it for me, so I'm not really sure if that makes a difference. lol

search it up...i was gona do this aswell wen i had my EG...you can get a metal piece that can be welded onto your fenders to replace the rusted piece...i believe its 90bucks?...not sure if its each or pair....try called that overseas/advance auto sport...dunno which but its the one on main st

I wouldn't cut out a used piece to weld it on since they're all well known to be rusting badly after a while. (honda does that to almost all cars so you can buy their new ones?) You're better off with buying a new one instead.
