Thanks for the heads up Leetastic.
How about Econ 2296 with Donna Park or Econ 2298 with Margaret Evans?

I'm trying to decide whether to take FMGT 2293 first semester or take FMGT 1115 first semester and FMGT 1215 second semester. Any recommendations for which path to take? | 2293 is just the condensed version of 1115+1215. So if you enjoy accounting or find it easy 2293 is probably better since you only have to do one class. If accounting is not your strong point then the split courses might be better for you, they just spend a bit more time on each section since the material is now split to two classes.

Any recommendations for which path to take? | Gordon McFarlane is a nice guy which I had for International Business. He's chill but when it gets to lectures and learning he expects you to learn the concepts by self understanding (eg. You answer his question that he asked. He would ask you back...Why is?...Why that?....Oh why?) so that you understand whatever he just asked you and not giving a random answer. He uses Blackboard when I had him and there were quizzes so Idk what he gives to other classes, but thats all I can tell you about his teaching style. Appraochable, friendly, caring, cool, but serious work.
Kevin James, I heard from a friend, emphasizes on textbook answers on tests and stuff. I guess his teaching style is about the same as Gordon McFarlane except maybe tougher and less emphasized on real life example and concept examples so that you understand. Focused more on grinding the textbook..? LOL thats what I percieve him as

If you study on a daily basis I think you would get a good mark and ask questions if you don't understand. I'm more of a last minute slacker so I couldn't keep up with her teaching style or the material. I barely got the material in the start of the course when it came to the midterm. Tried to cram it all but I couldn't. She's really fast in teaching and BAM BAM BAM DONE. Get it or don't...keep moving along.

I've had Kevin James for Retail Marketing and he's a really nice, upbeat guy. He's pretty tough for his upper level courses (3rd, 4th year) since he expects you to know what you're talking about. Towards the end he really tries to balance it out and makes the final quite easy for students as they have a choice in what they want to write about based on a case study. For the group project everyone got 80-95%.
He talks about the key points in class and doesn't cover everything in the textbook. The tests are quite easy, as long as you are able to provide details and link it back to things learnt in class. He says, even if you don't know what the question is asking for specifically, just write/draw what you think about it and go into details. His lectures are fun, but you definitely still need to do the work. I've heard his 1115 is super easy though. He's down to earth and really approachable and tries to get to know everyone personally.

Thanks a lot everyone TOS'D, Bao, and Complex Really appreciate it.
Two of my waitlists are ridiculous.. There are 20-30 people in the waitlist. Any advice/best way to get a prof to override the waitlist? If not, how long do students in my position have to wait for a spot? Quote:

20-30 is ridiculous. You actually might get in if its a crappy course like Econ. Students go in thinking its easy, da di da, etc etc....then after the first few days realize the prof is crap. There goes like 10 or so, if the teacher lets you stay and do let's say the first quiz....then a bunch fails...there goes another 20 LOL. I usually don't waste my time on those and just move on, but if you really really want it and willing to wait for that chance, go for it.
LOL new emoticon. Funny shit. No . This is some funny shit. |

Thanks Bao.If I did well in the first semester, would my registration date be earlier in the second semester compared to the first? Because I registered for Langara (first semester) kind of late.
Also, what do you guys think of not taking Econ 2296 (and using Marketing 1115 to "substitute" it) since the Econ profs aren't that good? Good idea?

I'm not quite sure if it will. You're a new student that transferred just recently maybe thats why its so late. I'm sure there is a sequence involving how many credits at Langara, Semesters, GPA, and Program, but obviously no one knows for sure because they don't tell us on purpose. I registered on 24th and I think that's ok looking at 6 semesters at Langara and a total of about 50 credits or so. Maybe a bit of luck too but no one knows for sure....
I couldnt make it into International Law. Those bastards said I need communications and in the BBA program or something. Fucking douchebags. Yea I can do the BBA program at Langara but I don't want it from Langara thats the problem. Probably wants me to sign up for BBA so that I stay...
Yea go for marketing. Econ for a first semester here is edgy. Econ profs are shit, its the TBA ones that are a gamble and they are always full no matter what time even if its 6pm-9pm, people still gamble for a good easy teacher for their Econ mark's sake.

If MARK 1115 can be used to substitute ECON I'd highly recommend it. You'll fall asleep and die in ECON. MARK is fun anyways and easy, as long as you have common sense you don't need to know much.
Your registration time is based on GPA, program, and how far along you are.
3rd and 4th years get first dibs, then GPA, then program.
But if you do fairy well, 2.8+ you should be on the first day and time.
I honestly am not 100% sure about this since I've always gotten the first registration slot regardless of my GPA, but it's what I've heard from multiple students.

Is there a set date for courses with instructors "TBA" released?

^ Nope, they just post it when they find someone that can take over. Sometimes (rarely) instructors and class times might be changed last minute. It just happened to me for one of my classes. =[

What degree are you guys aiming for right now? Planning to transfer or finish the degree up at Langara?
Also, Marketing 1115 with Douglas White or FMGT 2293 with Ruth Heathcote anyone? More than half the ratemyprof reviews seem like they're from the profs and/or students who don't even know english

I'm having douglas white right now for marketing. Tues night...3 hrs...monotone...retarded noob with overall business aspects. He dare rate a Miata as a 2/10 for performance. I laughed at his face and told him it can be a track car. His eyes popped. Duuurrrrrr even me as a business student have more exposure to all business aspects whether its cars, clothing, stocks, phones, or whatever. He has the business backround, just a conservative living in the stone ages.
He's boring. Idk if his tests are easy, but I hear its emphasized on concepts and applying the theories learned. Idk about his tests because I didn't do the midterm due to sickness. Nice guy tho I'll give him that.

^Jayboogz, I'm taking FMGT 2293 and Stats 1181. What are yours?
Has anyone had experience with online courses in general or ANTHR 1132 with Rick Blacklaws? I'm planning to take it online (or lecture) as an elective.
