First year as in CHEM1120, MATH1171, and PHYS1125? Depends person to person... I managed it.

No, a bit in the lower levels trying my way up to transfer into pharmacy

might get tutors for math if things get rough... I am not sure if 1152 or 1153 is harder than math 12 or easier. Math 12 was managable was I was just too busy T_T / lazy

chem 1114-1118 aint all that hard at all. the only hard part i found was labs. some of the lab tas mark really tough. nit picking EVERYTHING you do. but material wise chem aint that hard. just memorize a couple rules and use dimensional analysis for pretty much everything.

as for math..just keep doing questions and remember the rules and you should be ok.

I went directly into 1171 after math 12, so I don't know much about the lower level math courses. Taking 1152 would be a good idea to strengthen your foundational algebra skills. 1152/1253 is the same as 1171 but just spread over two terms. I'm sure that you'll be fine if you put in the time and do all assigned practice questions and more. Like !Shuya80 said, it's a tried-and-true technique to do better in mathematics. Ask questions and be vocal in class; chances are if you have a question, other students have the same question. Someone's got to speak up!

You may want to check out the Math Help Center. Students taking higher level math courses help students taking lower ones, as do some math instructors. I might apply to be a tutor for next term, haha.

Are you coming from grade 12?

nope already a student here already. My first semester I had no clue on what I want to accomplish in life/post secondary so i took some stupid courses like psychology etc. Now I want to focus on sciences and math. Free tutor at math center? Sweet! I was thinking about getting a private one but I guess current students can help =]

I also switched over to sciences haha, majoring in physics now. Was initially going down the road of polisci and IR. I do miss it, though lol

Yup! And there's also help centers for physics, chemistry, biology, computing science, and the writing center. I've never used any of them, but they've helped a lot of my friends.

So guys, registration starts on Monday! Anyone taken Spanish 1115 before with Gambroudes or Psychology 1215 with Jeff Webster? How difficult are introductory language courses at Langara? Also what are some of you guys planning to take?
